An introduction to our remix of this podcast, The Sweetness of the Scroll. Join me for a meditative reading of the Torah portion each week, listen and be encouraged in faith because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Enjoy your weekly dose of the Sweetness of the Scroll!
Thoughts on the Torah portion Shofim. Moses gives the nation of Israel instructions on justice and forbidden idolatry as well as prophesies a Messianic promise.
Thoughts on the Torah portion Re'eh. Moses is teaching the Joshua generation about the blessing and the curse. The blessing comes from obedience and the curse is the result of disobedience. There are several sections of rules and regulations in this portion but the main point is that obedience to these commandments resulted in covenant blessing!
Thoughts on the Torah portion Ekev. Moses continues to instuct the nation of the importance of obedience and emphasizes the covenant-keeping nature of the Father.
Thoughts on the Torah portion Devarim, translated the words. Deut. 1:1-3:22. Moses is instructing the congregation of Israel, the second generation on the commands of the LORD. It is time for the Joshua generation to go in and possess the land.
A double Torah portion of Mattot/Masei covering Numbers 30:2-36:13. We shouldn't make vows that we can't keep. Our words are important. The final Torah portion recounts the journey through the wilderness; life is a journey but we can trust that the LORD speaks to us and demonstrates His love even in during our wilderness experience.
Thoughts on the Torah portion Pinchas Numbers 25:10-30:1. The radical obedience of Phinehas ushered him into a radical promise. The daughters of Zelophedad receive a their inheritance.
