Random Ruminations of a Millenial

  • Episode 2: Should Colonists Return the Stolen Land (Part 1) - Expropriation Without Compensation

17 OCT 2018 · Should post-colonial land be returned to those who were colonised? [PART 1] Listen to my highly unqualified perspective on how to approach the issue of post-colonial land restitution. I briefly touch on the obstacles of the process and how land reform has become such a racialised issue in South Africa. The 'expropriation without compensation' issue in South Africa has now garnered international coverage because of its seemingly impulsive nature. Perhaps this is a necessary evil in the eyes of many, but I firmly disagree with that notion. • Episode 1: The Blatant Bias in the Mainstream Media - The Lack of Diversity @ the 2018 Emmy Awards (*TRUTH ALERT*)

21 SEP 2018 · IG & TWITTER: @taumatsau FB: fb.me/randomrums Many people are upset because the list of award winners at the 2018 Emmy's wasn't 'diverse' enough. As a 'person of color', I'm getting tired of hearing about this topic being brought up when it isn't warranted. Because without properly looking into the cause of certain outcomes, it's very easy to jump to conclusions; and because I'm such a Great Samaritan, I'm going to show you why the diversity issue in American film & TV media is an exaggerated problem. Long story short: much like racism and sexism, diversity has become a lucrative topic to talk about because of the emotional response it evokes and therefore has become a vehicle and commodity of virability and media engagement. Because of this, many journalists are no longer reporting the complete truth because they fear that it won't be a popular read amongst the target market. Fair enough, but I hope these populist writers understand that their unbalanced articles are skewing the minds of their readers in the direction of nonsense. OH WELL.. This is the article I refer to in the podcast: -*WARNING* it may trigger you if you're a rational thinking person: https://broadly.vice.com/en_us/article/kz5849/2018-emmys-win-lose-diversity?utm_source=vicetwitterus

A social commentary that touches on somewhat controversial topics that require a little bit of depth (identity politics, truth about racism, feminism, and other career-ending topics). I don't know what I'm talking about half the time, but I've still decided to expose myself to the internet #rip...if I've missed something, misunderstood something, or if you simply hold a different perspective from me, then let's talk. I like to start conversations with the meaty stuff anyway- i prefer to skip ice breakers and small talk.

Catch me outside, how 'bout dat:

- From the perspective of someone who literally JUST learnt how to form an opinion about a week ago. I know that I'm a fetus in the grand scheme of things, but I'm still trying to make sense of the world, so watch me stumble (or help me out) as I take my first few steps into the real world.

All I want in life is to be #WOKE... kidding! i already am :P
