In the first of an occasional series entitled 'The Ballad of Bedfordshire' Jon Bickley tells the story of the Luton Peace Day riots in words and music. At the end of WW1 the promise to build a land fit for heroes failed to materialise and Luton ex-servicemen unhappy with unemployment and other grievances took matters into their own hands burning down the Town Hall. To mark the centenary Jon performs his own original songs about the events that occurred in Luton town centre between 19th - 21st July 1919. He is joined by a number of musicians regularly heard on the Invisible Folk Club Radio Show.
