3 MAY 2020 · In the midst of this pandemic, many are re-evaluating their priorities and goals. This is an opportune time for leaders to take a moment and reassess their leadership journey. A critical leg of this leadership journey is self-discovery and finding your purpose. Simon Sinek refers to this as Finding your True North, or Finding Your Why. In this episode Brett (who agreed to be my Why Discovery Partner) and I (the one working on Finding My Why) begin Part 2: Draft Your Why. We utilize Simon's Why Discovery Course as a guide. We'll continue to follow this process until I complete the course and finalize my Why statement. I can hardly wait to share it with you. In the mean time, I have enjoyed digging deep and remembering the formative stories of my life. We hope you enjoy this conversation. So far, I can definitely recommend it! In this podcast we will visit with high performing guests to find out how they overcome failure and stay “in the zone” of optimal performance. In the Zone describes the human ability to be in the moment and completely focus on executing a task, even in the most challenging circumstances. Research overwhelmingly demonstrates that high performers have this ability and learn how to control it.

We will speak with athletes, musicians, and other entertainers, doctors, nurses, lawyers, teachers, preachers, entrepreneurs, and my others to find out how they get, “in the zone.” We can learn much from each of them by understanding how they utilize mental skills in their pursuit of mastery.

While we find performance excellence fascinating, those who use their special abilities in the service of others are truly inspirational. What we hope will make this podcast unique is the fact that our exceptional guests, who are known for their high level of performance, also have deep ties to the Inland Empire Region of Southern California. They came from here, or they do their work here now.

The Inland Empire represents more than one quarter of the land mass of California. It covers more than 27,000 square miles and has a population of approximately 4 million people. Our guests are not from cities like New York, Los Angeles, or Chicago, rather, they are from Riverside, San Bernardino, Fontana, Moreno Valley, Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, Corona, Victorville, Temecula, and Murrieta. You will likely know of some of them already, but you will also meet and be inspired by many of whom you have never heard.
