  • The Video Call Center: Alternative to Talk Radio for the Deaf at NAB Show NY 2018

18 OCT 2018 · The Video Call Center: Alternativve to Radio Talk for Deaf or Individuals with Hearing Impairment Broadcast Talent or Audience Members Host: Good Morning! welcome to Ability Anyware Radio. This is a disability conscious podcast. Today is October 18, 2018. ability Anyware Digital Quarterly (AADQ) is via ing the National Broadcasters Show in New York to cover AT in the media. These are vendors that offer products and services that can be helpful for broadcast talent and audience members with disabilities I'm here at The Video Call Center with Jaclyn. Hi Jaclyn. Jaclyn: Hi Tanya! Host: How are you? Jaclyn: Great. How are you guys? Host: Great! Thank you. Can you tell us about how the video call center can be of assistance to individuals with disabilities? Jaclyn: Absolutely, the Video Call Center is a broadcast focused company that specializes in bringing in remote contributors using consumer devices, such as cell phones, tablets, laptops, iPads. The idea is that if you have a camera and connection, you can broadcast. And you can be integrated into a podcast. What we've noticed just based on the ease of use and the visual focus of our technology is that this could serve as a way to broadcast for people, who are in particular, hard-of-hearing. After a production trade show I went this past January, I started thinking about talk radio. And how there is no talk radio alternative for somebody who is hard-of-hearing. Our company is created to essentially be video talk radio, video form of that. I can't think of a cooler way to engage in that type of format where you have a pulse from broadcasters all over the world. And don't need to worry about talking with audio because you can actually be hands-free and you can sign...which is awesome. Host: That's terrific. Jaclyn: Yeah...so from the broadcast aspect, we have that service. And all of the tools that are used to enter into our broadcast, for example, if you to join the virtual backstage area, say you want to participate. That's all typing. That's all visual. And we even have a chat. So that you can chat with the producers if you have trouble or need some trouble shooting help. All of that is done through text. There wouldn't be any actual communication through audio. And we haven't had the opportunity to explore that yet. I did reach out to a nonprofit with that idea. And it didn't come to fruition, but we would love to have conversations with somebody who would like to do that. Because the technology is there. And It's such a cool and gratifying resource. Host: That's great! And what's your website so that people can access The video Call Center? Jaclyn: Our website is the thevcc.tv Host: Thank you so much Jaclyn. Jaclyn: Thank so much Tanya. Host: Have a great day! Jaclyn: You too! Host: Bye-bye
