Founder and Executive Director of her non-profit organization ‘I am Her.’ which provides therapy services for women and girls who are victims of traumatic experiences and lack the resources to do so. After the Chicago City Council agreed to pay $2.9 million to resolve the lawsuit brought by Anjanette Young after police officers handcuffed her while she was naked and ignored her pleas for help during a botched raid in February 2019. Anjanette talks about her healing journey back to self and what she’s up to now including her philanthropic work, her continued social service work and what we can look for from her in the near future. One of her major efforts is to make sure the total disrespect and disregard of one’s respectability is intact when police approach citizens whatever the circumstance. After the firestorm, and the push from Anjanette’s story and her police reform advocacy, the Chicago Police Department changed its policy for serving warrants to add a requirement that bureau chiefs sign off on any no-knock warrants. It also steps before, during and after the execution of a search warrant.
