I’m 82 years old… and I ain’t done yet.<br /><br />Now I know somebody out there hearin’ that number and thinkin’, “Man… 82? Time to slow down.”<br />But let me tell you somethin’ real slow so it sinks deep into your spirit…<br /><br />God don’t retire purpose.<br />And He sure don’t put a expiration date on the fire He placed inside your soul.<br /><br />See, I come up outta Haines City, Florida… back when rock &amp; roll wasn’t polished, it was raw.<br />Back when you didn’t need a million followers—you just needed a dream big enough to keep you up at night.<br /><br />1959… I was just a young man with a sound in my chest I couldn’t quiet down.<br />So I started a band called The Blazers.<br /><br />And Lord… we played anywhere they’d let us plug in.<br />Teen rec halls… youth centers… truck stops… dusty little stages where the lights flickered and the crowd didn’t care if you were famous—they just wanted to feel somethin’.<br /><br />And I’ll never forget the first time I heard our song—“The Chase”—come through that radio on WLAK…<br /><br />Whew…<br />That wasn’t just music.<br />That was confirmation.<br /><br />That was God whisperin’,<br />“Boy… I gave you that sound.
