In today's devotional reflection, we explore a powerful word found in Scripture: uprooted.

At first glance, uprooting may seem similar to pruning, but there is an important difference. Pruning removes what is no longer needed so healthy growth can continue. Uprooting removes the entire root system. One preserves life. The other removes the source of stability altogether.

Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly uses the imagery of roots, trees, vines, branches, and fruit to help us understand our relationship with Him. These images remind us that spiritual life is not sustained by appearances alone. What matters most is what is happening beneath the surface.
A healthy tree remains standing because of its roots. Long before fruit appears on the branches, roots are quietly drawing nourishment, strength, and stability from the soil. In the same way, our spiritual lives depend upon remaining connected to Christ, the true Source of life.

As we reflect together, we consider the difference between facing difficult seasons and becoming disconnected from God. Storms do not uproot every tree. In many cases, storms simply reveal the condition of the roots that were already there. The deeper the roots, the greater the stability when pressure comes.

This devotional encourages us to examine what lies beneath the surface. Are we remaining rooted and established in Christ? Are we continuing to draw strength from His Word? Are we staying connected to the One who sustains us through every season?

The warning about being uprooted is not meant to create fear. Rather, it serves as a loving reminder of the importance of abiding in Christ. God desires that we be rooted, established, strengthened, and fruitful. Healthy roots provide the foundation for healthy fruit.

Whether you are currently walking through a season of growth, waiting, testing, or renewal, this reflection offers encouragement to stay close to the Source. The safest place for a branch is connected to the Root that gives it life.

At first glance, uprooting may seem similar to pruning, but there is an important difference. Pruning removes what is no longer needed so healthy growth can continue. Uprooting removes the entire root system. One preserves life. The other removes the source of stability altogether.

In Leviticus 26:10, God gives Israel a promise that appears to be about harvest and provision:"You shall eat the old harvest, and clear out the old because of the new."

At first glance, the verse seems to focus on food storage, abundance, and God's faithfulness to provide. Yet hidden within the verse is a small word that opens the door to a much deeper spiritual principle:until.

The old harvest remained until the new harvest arrived.The old was not the destination.It was the bridge.In this episode, we explore the mercy hidden inside seasons of transition and why understanding this principle can change the way we view spiritual growth, discipleship, and maturity.

How often do we become frustrated when we still see evidence of the old?
Old habits.
Old thinking.
Old fears.
Old struggles.

We expect instant transformation and forget that God often works through process.
Seeds grow beneath the surface before fruit appears.
Roots become established long before anyone sees the harvest.

This reflection follows the thread from Leviticus 26:10 into the broader journey of spiritual maturity.

We consider what it means to move beyond simply receiving and begin walking in what God has given.

We explore how God's promise to teach His children connects to growth, discipleship, and the lifelong work of becoming more like Christ.

Along the way, we reflect on Isaiah's promise that God's children will be taught by the Lord, Paul's call to maturity, and the importance of recognizing that growth unfolds over time.

Most importantly, we discover how the word "until" creates space for mercy.

Mercy for ourselves when we feel unfinished.
Mercy for others when we still see evidence of the old.
Mercy to trust that God is faithfully working beneath the surface even when we cannot yet see the full harvest.

Many people assume greatness is something a person declares about themselves. Yet when we follow the story of Abraham, we discover something different. The testimony of Abraham's blessing did not come from Abraham's own mouth. It came from someone who had walked closely enough to witness God's faithfulness firsthand.

In Genesis 24, Abraham's servant, Eliezer, arrives at the home of Rebekah's family while carrying out an important assignment. As he explains who he is and why he has come, he remarkably describes Abraham: "The LORD has blessed my master greatly, and he has become great..." (Genesis 24:35)

Those words reveal something profound. Abraham did not need to announce his own greatness. The evidence of God's blessing was visible enough that others could see it and testify about it.

In this episode, we reflect on what it means to live a life marked by God's faithfulness. We explore how the promises spoken to Abraham in Genesis 12 and Genesis 17 eventually became visible realities.

We consider the difference between self-promotion and the kind of blessing that quietly speaks for itself. As we follow this thread, we discover that fruitfulness is often much broader than we imagine. Scripture reveals God's blessing extending into every area of Abraham's life. His household, resources, influence, responsibilities, and relationships all bore witness to the faithfulness of God.

This devotional also invites us to consider an important question:

What kind of testimony is our life leaving behind?

If someone who knew us well were asked to describe the work of God in our lives, what would they say?

Would they be able to point to moments of faithfulness, growth, perseverance, kindness, wisdom, or trust in God?

One of the beautiful truths found in Abraham's story is that God's promises often begin long before they can be seen. God declared Abraham fruitful before the fulfillment was visible. He established a covenant before generations had been born. He spoke promises into existence long before others could witness their outcome.

Yet eventually, the fruit appeared.

Eventually, others could see the evidence.

Eventually, someone could stand and say: "The LORD has blessed my master greatly."

Perhaps you are currently in a season where God's work feels hidden. Perhaps you are waiting for promises to unfold, prayers to be answered, or fruit to become visible. If so, this reflection serves as a gentle reminder that God is still working, even when the process remains unseen. The blessing of God often begins in hidden places before it becomes visible to others.

Join us as we explore Abraham's story, the testimony of Eliezer, and the encouragement found in knowing that God's faithfulness leaves a witness.

What if they reveal something about discernment?

In this devotional reflection, we slow down and look beyond the ingredients and measurements to the one entrusted with preparing them—the perfumer.

Exodus tells us that the holy oil and incense were compounded according to “the art of the perfumer.” That phrase opens an unexpected doorway into wisdom, sensitivity, and spiritual recognition.

Master perfumers are sometimes called “the nose.” Their senses are trained through exposure, patience, repetition, and careful observation. They learn to recognize what belongs together, what clashes, what overpowers, and what remains. Their work is not simply about smell.

It is about discernment.

This study explores the fascinating connection between perfumery and Scripture, drawing from Exodus 30, Hebrews 5:14, and 1 Corinthians 12:17 to consider how God develops spiritual sensitivity within His people.

What does it mean that our senses are “exercised” to discern?

Why does Paul ask,
"If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling?"

And could it be that discernment is not merely about identifying danger or avoiding deception—but also about recognizing what carries the fragrance of truth?

Together we reflect on the possibility that spiritual recognition develops much like fragrance itself—through patience, exposure, maturity, and use.

Sometimes recognition comes before explanation.

Sometimes your spirit pauses before your mind finds language.
And perhaps that is not weakness.
Perhaps that is training.

This is not a conversation about perfume alone.

It is about discernment.

It is about sensitivity.

It is about learning to recognize what cannot yet be fully seen.

What if they reveal something about discernment?

In this devotional reflection, we slow down and look beyond the ingredients and measurements to the one entrusted with preparing them—the perfumer.

Exodus tells us that the holy oil and incense were compounded according to “the art of the perfumer.” That phrase opens an unexpected doorway into wisdom, sensitivity, and spiritual recognition.

Master perfumers are sometimes called “the nose.” Their senses are trained through exposure, patience, repetition, and careful observation. They learn to recognize what belongs together, what clashes, what overpowers, and what remains. Their work is not simply about smell.

It is about discernment.

This study explores the fascinating connection between perfumery and Scripture, drawing from Exodus 30, Hebrews 5:14, and 1 Corinthians 12:17 to consider how God develops spiritual sensitivity within His people.

What does it mean that our senses are “exercised” to discern?

Why does Paul ask,
"If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling?"

And could it be that discernment is not merely about identifying danger or avoiding deception—but also about recognizing what carries the fragrance of truth?

Together we reflect on the possibility that spiritual recognition develops much like fragrance itself—through patience, exposure, maturity, and use.

Sometimes recognition comes before explanation.

Sometimes your spirit pauses before your mind finds language.
And perhaps that is not weakness.
Perhaps that is training.

This is not a conversation about perfume alone.

It is about discernment.

It is about sensitivity.

It is about learning to recognize what cannot yet be fully seen.

In this Snack Time Devotional, we reflect on Genesis 1:14-17 and the deeper spiritual meaning of light in the creation account.

While reading these verses, I found myself reflecting on a study from the previous Sabbath in Leviticus 24. I had no intention to study that day. I simply reflected as the Holy Spirit brought something back to my memory.

In Leviticus 24, the High Priest Aaron was responsible for keeping the lamps lit from evening until morning. The lamps were to be lit at twilight and were not to go out during the night.

At the time, I remember saying that everything they did back then carried symbolic meaning for us today.

The lamps were filled with pure olive oil. For us today, that oil represents the Holy Spirit.

For our light to remain lit, we must stay filled with the Holy Spirit. And the way we remain filled is by spending daily time in the presence of the Lord.

Genesis tells us that the greater light rules the day, but the lesser light rules the night. At first, I assumed this simply referred to the moon. But as I reflected on the symbolism, I began to see something deeper. Perhaps the Lord was reminding us that even in the darkness, His people are meant to shine.

Once I became comfortable with the idea that the Lord often speaks through metaphors, the Scriptures began to open up in new ways.

My intention is simple.
I intend to let my light shine.

In this Snack Time Devotional, we reflect on Genesis 1:14-17 and the deeper spiritual meaning of light in the creation account.

While reading these verses, I found myself reflecting on a study from the previous Sabbath in Leviticus 24. I had no intention to study that day. I simply reflected as the Holy Spirit brought something back to my memory.

In this Snack Time Devotional, we reflect on an interesting connection between Genesis 1:20 and the teaching style of Jesus found in Matthew 13:3-4.

Jesus often taught using parables and metaphors—simple images that reveal deeper spiritual truths to those who are willing to look beyond the surface.

While reading the creation account, something unexpected stood out. I didn't expect to see this as I sat down to read. Yet, there is a saying that once your eyes are opened, there is no closing them.

My eyes were recently opened to metaphors, and the fact that King Jesus spoke using not just parables, but metaphors.

Parables and metaphors are similar in that both reveal deeper meaning. Where parables are short stories used to illustrate truth, metaphors use words or phrases to describe something that shares similar characteristics.

Using the explanation that King Jesus gave in the Parable of the Sower, along with another metaphor found in God's Word concerning water, I began to see a deeper meaning within the creation account in Genesis 1:20.

What first appeared to be a simple verse suddenly revealed something much deeper.

In this Snack Time Devotional, we reflect on Exodus 25:8 and the beautiful truth that God desires to dwell among His people.

In this verse, the Lord instructs Moses, saying, “Let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.”

From the very beginning, God’s heart has always been to be near His people. The Tabernacle was not simply a structure or a religious ritual—it was a powerful symbol of God's desire to live among those who belong to Him.

Throughout Scripture, we see this same theme unfold again and again.

God desires relationship.
God desires closeness.
God desires to dwell with His people.

This truth ultimately finds its fulfillment in the name Immanuel, which means “God with us.”

Even today, the presence of God is not distant or unreachable. Through His Spirit, He continues to dwell with those who seek Him.

With this first I know that I am being equipped for every good work.

With this first I know that I am being prepared for something that I am not aware is coming my way.

This first is my Kindergarten project.

But I also know that Father would not send me in this direction if HE didn't think I could do this.

I promise you I didn't see this coming either.
I am a writer.
But as I recouperate and heal from this surgery that I had I needed to find new ways to pour out all that is being poured into me.

And how about that.
This takes me to Isaiah 43:19

"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland."

OMG...
Here is yet another stream.

Okay Lord Jesus, my King. Have your way. I look forward to seeing how this journey unfolds.

When Jesus speaks to you, do you ignore him, and instead choose to listen to the counsel of another?

What causes this is not really the heart of the individual, but a lack of understanding what the voice of the LORD sounds like.

If we are not taught to recognize the sound of the voice of the LORD spoken to you, or if you are made to feel as if you have to be religious to have this experience, then of course you will not listen.

Let me show you an individual in the Bible who also not only did not know the LORD but did not know the word of the LORD either, but when the LORD called him and it was recognized that he was being called, he was taught how to hear and encouraged to listen and speak.

He was taught to hear the voice of the LORD spoken to his heart.

He was given permission to listen to the voice of the LORD spoken to his heart.

He was not required to listen only to the older man (priest) whom he worked for.

He was not required to honor and recognize the pedestal (pulpit) over the voice of the LORD spoken to his heart.

Because the high priest taught him to listen to the voice of the LORD, his experience was beyond exceptional. His walk with the LORD was amazing.

We need to be taught to hear the voice of the LORD spoken to our heart.

We need to learn to trust the voice of the LORD spoken to our heart.

Our Heavenly Father wants to speak to us. It's time we start listening.

When Jesus speaks to you, do you ignore him, and instead choose to listen to the counsel of another?

All I know is that I cannot treat today as just another day. All I know is that I am not to do what I normally do, or what society expects me to do in this day. Our Heavenly Father approved for me to be awakened today. I was awakened for HIS purposed. He has a will for me for today - a plan for me and whatever it is it is for my good.

I'm so excited. I must not forget that someone did not hear their name called on today. Someone did not wake up. Someone will not be able to participate in this day - for the good or the bad.

I say or the bad because I do realize that iron sharpens iron. So some have a hard job to do. Some have the responsibility of bringing themselves and others to their knees.

Why themselves and others?

Because God's Word is a two edged sword. So usually those with the hard assignments are those who reject the KING Jesus Christ as their Savior and Redeemer.

By not accepting Jesus as Lord over their lives in gratitude for His making us all debt free, one still lives in such a way that is shaped in iniquity. And so the path they are one causes them to have to be sharpened by iron - whether they are the sharpener or the one being sharpened. This too is necessary. I get it. Someone has to do the hard work.

As for me, I desire to be a ground that is malleable - a ground that is ready for planting, ready to receive good seed, and ready to grow. I want to be a ground that can withstand the forces of nature and the attack of the bugs ( lol ) so that I can grow and produce good fruit.

So yes I am excited about today.

I am grateful that I was chosen to wake up today.

I present myself, a living sacrifice, ready to do God's will on this day.

Hypocrisy is the practice of engaging in the same behavior or activity for which one criticizes another. In moral psychology, it is the failure to follow one's own expressed moral rules and principles.

The Bible had a lot more to say about the whitewashed graves of hypocrisy than I thought.

This is what watv.org shared on the subject in 2010...

Eze 13:10-15 " ‘Because they lead my people astray, saying, "Peace," when there is no peace, and because, when a flimsy wall is built, they cover it with whitewash, therefore tell those who cover it with whitewash that it is going to fall. Rain will come in torrents, and I will send hailstones hurtling down, and violent winds will burst forth . . . I will tear down the wall you have covered with whitewash and will level it to the ground so that its foundation will be laid bare. When it falls, you will be destroyed in it; and you will know that I am the LORD. So I will spend my wrath against the wall and against those who covered it with whitewash. I will say to you, "The wall is gone and so are those who whitewashed it, . . ." '' "

Apostle Paul said to the high priest Ananias who sinned against God by hindering the gospel, "You whitewashed wall!"

Ac 23:1-3 Paul looked straight at the Sanhedrin and said, "My brothers, I have fulfilled my duty to God in all good conscience to this day." At this the high priest Ananias ordered those standing near Paul to strike him on the mouth. Then Paul said to him, "God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! . . ."

Jesus compares the hypocritical teachers of the law and Pharisees to whitewashed tombs.

Mt 23:27-28 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men''s bones and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness."

False prophets make a habit of doing detestable things, deceive people and shut the kingdom of heaven in their faces. They are like whitewashed tombs, which look clean and beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of everything unclean. So, they can never escape the punishment of hell.

Mt 23:14-15 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men''s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are."

Mt 23:33 "You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?"

Thus, the Bible likens false prophets and their denominations to whitewashed tombs; for even though a church is very big and gorgeous on the outward and it has long history and tradition, if it has no truth, it can never be a place of salvation.

Today, there are so many churches led by false prophets like whitewashed tombs in the world; they shut off the kingdom of heaven from people by deceiving them with falsehood and lawlessness while calling God, "Lord, Lord" (Mt 7:21- 23). The Bible refers to the false churches as spiritual Babylon. God wants His people to quickly come out of Babylon—a home for demons—which is full of wickedness and lawlessness, before the Judgment Day comes, so that they will not be condemned with them.

Rev 18:2-5 With a mighty voice he shouted: "Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great! She has become a home for demons and a haunt for every evil spirit, a haunt for every unclean and detestable bird. For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries. The kings of the earth committed adultery with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries." Then I heard another voice from heaven say: "Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues; for her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes."

Now is the time to lead our heavenly brothers and sisters, who are dying in spiritual Babylon like a whitewashed tomb, into the refuge of salvation as quickly as possible.

The fact that it starts off by saying "therefore..." indicates that the proceeding versus give substance to why the verse was written. Thus, I would encourage the reading of the proceeding verses and chapters also.

But in the meantime, before you complain or gossip about a brother or sister in Christ, keep this in mind, "there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the spirit."

Therefore, consider this:

Are the acts you are gossiping about and condemning according to the sinful nature?

Where the ask someone else was judging you over according to the spirits or according to the sinful nature?

Are you taking someone to court, or being taken to court?( Matthew 5:25, 26) is it over the sinful nature?

The fact that you are in court is evidence that there is condemnation over which a judgment is expected. Even something as small as getting a parking or speeding ticket falls in this category.

Is the person you are at odds with a christian?

I didn't ask if they went to church. I asked if they were a Christian.

Do they claim to believe in Jesus christ?

Would they acknowledge Jesus to be their savior?

You cannot answer for them. But this would serve as a great opportunity to learn what it means to acknowledge Jesus as Lord, explaining that this means to have Jesus as one's master. It's a great opportunity to witness and redeem a brother to oneself. But, instead, we take one another to court. (1Corinthians 6:1-8.)

Therefore, and this is just a question, are we then acting in christ?

There is condemnation in Christ.

It comes against those who, though they claim to be in christ, they are living according to their sinful nature.

I also can't help but to reflect on what Caleb said at Joshua 14:7-12 that God kept him (regarding that time spent in the wilderness).

God keeps those who follow him wholly; those who trust him without all of the complaining.

Have we ever taken a second and considered it Beyond just reading it, quoting it, or repeating it after others as a call and response?

This is a very powerful prayer and one that we need to take the moment to ponder deeply in our hearts. Selah

Our Father...
[ We need to recognize that GOD is our FATHER. Our parent. He knows us intimately. He knows the number of hairs on our heads. He awakens us every morning. He provides for our needs and wants to give us some wants also. He cares for us, provides, protects, corrects, and disciplines us like a parent (Hebrews 12:5-12) ]

Our Father in heaven...
[ We need to not forget that Our Father is Sovereign. He is Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent. Nothing is hidden from him. Everything is naked and openly exposed before Him. Therefore we need to humble ourselves before Him. We need to respect Him, and when we approach Him there should be reverent fear because of who He is. ]

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name...
[Hallowed means holy, clean, cleansed from any wrong that might be imputed. When we say that His name is hallowed, we are telling God that He was right all along and we were wrong. We are telling God that we should have listened to Him from the very beginning. We are saying to God that HE is free from the guilt of all that Satan and man have charged him of.

Satan said to Eve that God lied about her and Adam dying if they ate from the tree. That was the first great lie told on our Father.

The next lie Satan told was when he insinuated that God is buying our love by blessing us and covering over us. See Job chapters 1 and 2.]

Our Father in Heaven, HALLOWED be Your Name.

Your Kingdom come...
[God's Kingdom is a government that is going to put an end to the governments of this world. (See Daniel 2:44) We need God's Kingdom to come and fix this world and the earth that we have destroyed with our disobedience. Man has tried. There have been different regimes, different rulers, different types of government and ultimately man has made things worse. We need God's Kingdom because man's government is not working. ]

Your Kingdom come. Your will be done...
[We like to fuss about how we have "free will", yet the truth of the matter is that in our free will we have been messing things up. We have been selfish in how we have operated. We have been allowed free will to show us that we actually need God and that we cannot do things of our own strength and understanding. We need help. We need God's Will to be done. Not God's permissive will, but God's perfect will. ]

Your Kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven...
[ God's will is already being done in heaven. The enemy of our Lord has been cast out of heaven. Heaven has been cleansed of the antagonist. We need for the earth to be cleansed of all wickedness too. ]

Give us this day our daily bread...
[ Jesus is the Word of God. Jesus is the bread from heaven. Whenever we call upon the name of Jesus we are asking for our daily bread we are asking for a daily word. We are told that He sent His Word and healed us, and delivered us from our destructions. Notice that the prayer says "daily". We are to read in God's Word day and night. We are to feed on the Word of God daily. We ask God to provide this to us and He did, but are we availing ourselves of this bread. Are we eating the bread that God has given to us? Are we hearing it, listening to it, reading it? ]

Forgive us our debts...
[We have inherited sin. Therefore we have to deal with transgressions (acts of sin) that we commit unknowingly; and iniquities (when we know how to do what is right but we do wrong). We all have this battle. ]

Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors...
[ There is no one sin greater than the other. The forgiveness we desire to receive is dependent upon the forgiveness we give to others. ]

and Do not lead us into temptation...
[ Revelation 2:10; James 1:2-4; Zechariah 13:9; and the better-known verse is Matthew 4:1 where the Spirit led Jesus in the wilderness to be tempted by Satan. Jesus told us to pray that we do not have to go through that at Luke 22: 40. He warns us ahead of time. Are we listening? ]

But deliver us from the evil one...
[He tells us at James 4:7 how He delivers us. It starts with submission. Again, we must lay down that free will and take upon ourselves God's will.]

For Yours is the Kingdom and the power, and the glory forever
[The right to rule belongs to our Father in Heaven. It always has. We thought we could do it better. We were wrong. To God belongs the power and the glory. How long? FOREVER.

and when we find ourselves in agreement with that which King Jesus taught us to pray, we end by saying.

AMEN Amen amen
