We’re joined by Dr. Kristen Williamson — licensed professional counselor, behavioral health expert, advocate, and someone who proudly describes herself as ‘neurospicy.’ And trust me… after this episode, you’re probably gonna start using that word too. Dr. Williamson shares her personal journey of being diagnosed with autism and ADHD later in life, what it felt like growing up trying to fit into a world that never quite made sense, and how finally getting answers completely changed the way she understood herself. We also dive into workplace accommodations, parenting neurodivergent children, masking behaviors, advocacy, sensory struggles, and why simply asking someone what they need can completely change their life. This episode is honest, hilarious, emotional, and packed with practical insight for parents, educators, employers, neurodivergent individuals, and honestly anybody wanting to better understand the neurodivergent experience. With more than 24 years of experience supporting children and adults with neurodiversity, Jeaneen dives deep into what speech therapy really is — and how it helps students find their voice, build relationships, and thrive. She also shares how her personal journey as a parent has shaped her passion for helping others communicate and connect in meaningful ways. We explore her new book, PLAY DUMB & SABOTAGE, along with the companion workbook and workshops she’s created for parents and educators. Her goal? To make early language development approachable, fun, and preventative — helping families raise confident communicators and reduce the need for formal therapy down the road. If you’ve ever felt emotionally drained, overwhelmed, or under-supported while trying to meet the needs of your students or clients, you’re not alone.
