https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/autobiography-of-st-ignatius-the-by-st-ignatius-loyola-1491-1556--6328524The narrative follows Ignatius of Loyola from his early ambitions and military life through the serious injury that changed the direction of his life. During his recovery, he began reading religious works that led him to question his previous goals and seek a deeper spiritual purpose.
Ignatius describes his periods of prayer, pilgrimage, hardship, study, and inner struggle as he gradually developed the spiritual ideas that would later shape the Society of Jesus, or Jesuits. His journey takes him through places such as Montserrat, Manresa, Jerusalem, Paris, and Rome.
Rather than presenting a polished literary autobiography, the work has the direct quality of personal recollection. Ignatius recounts his experiences with humility, focusing less on fame and more on discernment, faith, discipline, and the search for God’s will.
The audiobook explores themes of conversion, vocation, perseverance, spiritual discipline, self-examination, and personal transformation.
This audiobook is ideal for listeners interested in Christian spirituality, religious history, saints’ lives, Jesuit history, spiritual memoirs, and personal journeys of faith.
