My name is Rudy Samsel, and I co-founded Guys With Rides, the only dealer-free community and marketplace for car enthusiasts like you and me. I firmly believe there was a story under the hood of every classic car. That's why I created the Guys With Their Rides Podcast. In this podcast, I feature fellow car enthusiasts with interesting rides and the fascinating stories each one tells. Long-time followers of GuysWithRides will recognize Jeff Lavery, who contributed many Rad Era (1980-1999) Craigslist ClasiiFIND posts. In addition to still contributing on BarnFinds.com, Jeff created his own website, https://thecommongear.com/, where users can document all their car's records in one place. In this video podcast, Jeff and I debate whether a recent sale of a Mitsubishi Evo for $161,000 on Bring a Trailer was a money laundering scam or something else. We also hear Jeff's thoughts on the state of the hobby from a young timer's perspective and why we both agree Hagerty Insurance's market valuations leave much to be desired. Following his untimely passing in 2013, the original owner bequeathed it to his best friend, who continues to own the car to this day. The following is my interview with Lou, the second owner of this ‘87 Koenig Special. Lou has some great stories during his eleven years of ownership.
