In the early years Lelan never had a foundation of home, Dad was in the military and lived on the Reservation under tribal land. When he went to visit he was shunned and bullied for not being full Native American. Mom was still heavy in her addiction and would leave for years at a time and toss Lelan to whoever was available (Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents ECT.) Change and loss was challenging at a young age. Bouncing around all over the nation, Lelan and his family lived in a ten on a campground they were very poor. Right out of highschool Lelan had a child and went to college for a small amount of time. He returned to raise his family and would only drink on the weekends. He didnt start acting a fool until the divorce started. He got a part time job as a bartender then started music as well. He felt like someone who didnt belong but the bar and music changed that. The addiction started with that sense of community. The music got popular they were touring and doing radio shows but it fueled his identity because people were looking up to him. He used that self hatred as fuel for his addiction. He would blame everyone but him for his addiction. All his dealers were his customers so he was skating by and making good money but he never had anything to show for it. He thought that his lifestyle was supposed to be like that being a rockstar.
With 3 kids at the time he had joint custody but his relationship with them had fallen apart. Instead of doing something positive he would use and party and live the rockstar life. He would try to get clean by stop using alcohol. The tip jar at the end of the night at his bar had pills and nuggs and stuff he would experience with. He had medicaid and would try to get help but all he would be sent to is Detox. He would be in and out of jail. The turning point was when Lelan went to his pychyatrist and was prescribed Xanax. From there he would mix with alcohol and started blacking out all the time. Then he would get refills by these doctors so he would think its okay since its from a certified Doctor. Lelan woke up in the platte river covered in blood and wanted to quit the bar because he was fighting all the time and blacking out on the regular. He told his boss he was done, Then he got an email that the cops came by looking for him. So he turned himself in and went through the intake process. They put him in the room with nothing because of his suicidal thoughts. The nurse in there checking on him told him "people like you deserve to die."

Lelan then went in front of a judge and was sentenced to 164 years. He was thankful he was in there so he couldnt hurt anybody else. Scared of himself, worried about the community Lelan stayed in there for a few months and they dropped it down to 64 years. Couple more months went by and they dropped it down to 10, so he signed a 10 year. He went to a therapist in the cage and moved to a different facility and was given the same diagnosis from a different therapist. Then Lelan was introduced to yoga. It blew him away, he had to be comfortable with himself and he had to find the peace within which helped his ego come down. After that he started to go to the library in the chapel about religion in different forms. He would teach lifers and moving from yard to yard to help others. Then he would join AA meetings then he went to a NA meeting. Dudes telling there stories and Lelan is relating heavy to all these other people really let him connect to more and more people. Lelan really stepped out of his comfort zone and changed his mindset to be with stuff that made him uncomfortable. He was fortunate enough to join the swift firefighting crew his final 2 years. he would run PT every morning and built a community. They went to a fire in Fort Collins (Cameron Peak Fire). No C.O's no fences, weeapons in there hands, axes and chainsaws. Other crews found out there were a prison workcrew and was bringing them alcohol and cigarettes. One of the crew members threatened Lelan with an axe to drink so he wouldn't tell on them. He refused and they told him they were going to take him out, when they got back they raided his room and told him they were proud of him and that took balls. They started working out together and became friends and realized each other were battling there own problems. Covid hit and Lelan was on a fire in Steamboat Springs went to a sober living home. He was terrified there would be no structure. Making $20-30 buck a month to minimum wage and hazard pay. When he got out he had $3000 dollars to his name and his church sent him a care package. Lelan was shocked when he found out he wasnt being monitored anymore. He was now on his own terms again but he was making the structure happen. He had accountability. They told him DOC clients dont make it so he was fueled to go. Got a manual labor job within 2 days and was on a mission to prove to everybody he can do this. Now Lelan helps people in recovery and has a passion for helping humans become a new version of themselves. He has the ability to put people in positions that fit them. Now Lelan is in an amazing organization that are there for peoples best interest and is happy to get to do special things again. In her early years Brandi grew up in a military family with her father and stepmom. Her blood mother left her when she was 3 years old which caused some trauma.

In her teen years she began do be a rebel and didnt like taking orders from her dad which caused her to move back in with her mom. She found her mother again and would go live with her because she could manipulate her since she felt regretful for leaving. Back in her moms house she didn't have any rules and became pregnant at 16 years old and Brandi had 4 kids back to back. She was a great mother at a young age and married the father of her kids but it didnt work out. She then got married to a new man in her 20s and was going to college and was a welder raising 4 kids. It became alot to be on her plate so her new husband of 7 years said maybe the solution was to try some meth. Her kidneys shut down immediately after that. In the hospital they gave her IV diluded and that is when Brandi found opioids her new drug of choice which progressed quickly after that.

Befor 9/11 she was flying to Cali and bringing the drugs back in to sell to her coworkers in the boat yard. After a while things started to get violent and abuse was a huge thing, her husband was breaking in to her places of residences. He was very sheltered in his small town community and was more beloved there then Brandi. So she took her kids and fled to Seattle. She was immediately approached by officers for having an outstanding $83 dollar check in mississippi and a govenors warrant was placed on her. So her parents took her kids for a few days and she was told she had to give her kids back to her husband.

As she tried to get her kids back she was told her parental rights were sevvered for abandoning her children. She began to think she deserved this life and now her excuse to use was that she lost her kids and she was on a slow mission of commiting suicide. The woman in jail told her to stop forging presrcriptions because they had heroin in the pin. Brandis father always stood by her side and would wait outside of traphouses to pick her up for hours and would pay her phone bill. She had to call him everyday to check in, if she didnt call within 2 days he would shut her phone off. That was there deal.

Brandi was let out of jail for a drug evaluation but instead went on the run again and was waiting for drugs at a local trap house when another man from a different island came in and said the cops were looking for her. He had her drug of choice and she had his so she ran off with him and got married. They ran to Colorado and ran out by the time they got there so she was asking around and the people said go to colfax. She knew copper was a money getter so they were at the abandoned buildings cutting out copper trying to get money for more drugs. She got busted with the copper and was taken back to jail and she was about to get 24-48 years. They had no record of her being in recovery or treatment so they got her in to the last house on the block. She didn't use for 8 months and thought she had a solid plan to run.

After being 4 years clean she went back to Washington to make ammends with the state and turn herself in. Her first court date they lost the blood evidence. Tuesday the next court date was 2 weeks with an ankle monitor and could be home in Colorado. Wednesday court date was a Dui again but they had to throw out the case because of dirty cop who was fired prior to the court date.The final court date was with a judge who had put her in jail before so she presented a book of before and after to show the judge her current character. God Guide My Mouth is what she said before talking to the judge. The judge looks at her and says i have never seen somebody make significant change like you have so the judge gave her ZERO days in jail. She was free to go to her convention and was a free woman. "These are the gifts of recovery."

Brandis daughter messaged her on facebook and called an attorney for supervised visitation with her daughter. The image she had of herself was so bad that she didnt think she could provide for her kids. Everything progressed from there and she got all four of her kids back.

Brandi got a job with a general contractor building gas stations. She ended up being the best employee and made it all the way up to project manager and bought her first house. She then opened up her side business BFAB which has grown in to a multi-million dollar company. Brandi had a stroke and couldn't drive so he was taking care of her. One weekend he wanted to go to the motorcycle expo so he took the harleys to the expo. All this stuff was happening and Brandi had to make sure her father was okay. She took care of him to the best of his abilities for 14 months.

Brandi had to much pride to reach out for help and relapsed and was charged in a very short time. She was looking at prison time again and went to D.O.C. She became apart of a Colorado DOC and was getting in to fights then finally she had clarity again and joined TC and was going to meetings behind the wall. Brandi started carrying the message behind the walls and got out of prison and she does her recovery today like she did it before. Only out of prison for 5 months she is getting back the things she has lost again.

She always found love with the biggest drug dealers in the city. She was cooking her own freebase in her apartment and was a functioning addict with a job. She didn't mind it and was doing her thing; her family couldn't really tell her nothing because she was functioning. She got pregnant by her boyfriend at the time and at the ultrasound she was told her baby would be born without a brain, so she had to make a tough decision to let it go. The doctors told her she would never be able to have a baby. She decided that day that she would get clean. She saw her boyfriend get high and couldn't believe that's what she looked like when she was using.
Imani made the decision for herself to leave that boyfriend who gave her allowance paid rent on the apartment, all the amenities would be gone but she had to make the decision for herself to be better and get into a better situation. After that she met Hassan (her now husband) at her job where he was interviewing for a position. She asked him to hang out on new year's and they did. From there Hassan asked Imani to turn Muslim and they would get married, but it had to be on their terms. So, she finally converted and called Hassan to let him know the news. A lady answered the phone and Hassan had already married somebody else. (OUCH!) Couple of months later Imani met a man and had a child with him (her only child) which the doctors said would never be possible and was the biggest blessing she could have ever asked for. Soon after her job was paying people to relocate and was granting them funds based on how many years they worked in the company. Imani took it and moved her and her son to Colorado where Hassan was also. The rent was cheap in Colorado in 1994 and she had already been out here to visit Hassan before! Right as Imani showed up, she got a job within 3 weeks of moving because she doesn't like doing nothing being stagnant.
She now is an advocate for the HIV/AIDS/LGBTQ community she has been doing outreach for 40 years and has groups and meetings talking about safe sex, racism, jobs. Led by Arel Flynn, he is the biggest advocate in this community being one of the leaders of brothers forever. Listen to the rest of the story here.

She always found love with the biggest drug dealers in the city. She was cooking her own freebase in her apartment and was a functioning addict with a job. She didn't mind it and was doing her thing; her family couldn't really tell her nothing because she was functioning. She got pregnant by her boyfriend at the time and at the ultrasound she was told her baby would be born without a brain, so she had to make a tough decision to let it go. The doctors told her she would never be able to have a baby. She decided that day that she would get clean. She saw her boyfriend get high and couldn't believe that's what she looked like when she was using.
Imani made the decision for herself to leave that boyfriend who gave her allowance paid rent on the apartment, all the amenities would be gone but she had to make the decision for herself to be better and get into a better situation. After that she met Hassan (her now husband) at her job where he was interviewing for a position. She asked him to hang out on new year's and they did. From there Hassan asked Imani to turn Muslim and they would get married, but it had to be on their terms. So, she finally converted and called Hassan to let him know the news. A lady answered the phone and Hassan had already married somebody else. (OUCH!) Couple of months later Imani met a man and had a child with him (her only child) which the doctors said would never be possible and was the biggest blessing she could have ever asked for. Soon after her job was paying people to relocate and was granting them funds based on how many years they worked in the company. Imani took it and moved her and her son to Colorado where Hassan was also. The rent was cheap in Colorado in 1994 and she had already been out here to visit Hassan before! Right as Imani showed up, she got a job within 3 weeks of moving because she doesn't like doing nothing being stagnant.
She now is an advocate for the HIV/AIDS/LGBTQ community she has been doing outreach for 40 years and has groups and meetings talking about safe sex, racism, jobs. Nichole will be a psychologist; Kennedy is a cancer survivor with a titanium rib cage. Kerrigan who just got married and is now a massage therapist. Stacy is very blessed and proud to have such wonderful kids. After her failed marriage they moved back to Colorado, and she was sober for 13 years. She had lost her mama and father to Cancer in the same amount of time she was getting Kennedy through her Cancer treatment. Through all of this she stayed sober, but she was never loving herself and giving herself attention that we need as humans. She relapsed off a glass of wine and found herself almost committing suicide soon after.
She relapsed right when the world shut down for COVID so rehab and recovery was SUPER challenging because she couldn't do any in person work with friends and people in these programs.Being a woman and a Ex vet from the military there is a sense of pride they have. His aunt left Ozzie and she moved away she couldn't do it anymore. He couldn't move in with his cousin his wife didn't like him and thought he was the problem. So, he was on the streets again. Ozzie found comfort in the ocean; he heard his grandmother's voice. Its Bigger than him, it feeds him, and it can kill him, so he believed that was his first higher power. He was given a yard work job from a teacher in Ventura which was a blessing for Ozzie. He got a greyhound ticket to get back to Commerce City, Shirley had died, and Ozzie was back where he was before using again. "It follows you wherever you go." Ozzie was drunk and wanted to join the Army to get clean hoping his friend would join him. Next morning, he was at the recruiter's office and joined, his friend didn't show up. He couldn't so he was trying to get his wife to leave buy degrading her and it was too late the cops kicked down the door and took the kids from Ozzie and took him to jail.
Ozzie's cousin shot himself in the head in front of his wife and 3 kids because he couldn't get a job, and no one would hire him. Ozzie was planning his own suicide after because he felt he was in the same position as his cousin, and he felt he couldn't do anything right. He called Stout Street foundation for help, and they let him in to the program. He was there for a week until the bounty hunters caught him. In and out of jail for warrants Ozzie finally got out with this guy he used to get high with. He was walking to the house to get drugs and Ozzie left and ran away from this guy needing help. So, his sister picked him up and took him back to Stout Street. Ozzie's grandma never saw him clean which hurts, he made a promise to them that he will sit with them every year for 23 years.
Ozzie is now 23 years clean. He went back to school and got degrees he is going to meetings and in the field. Recovery and the fellowship he's in is what Ozzie credits for him being such a beast in recovery now.

The last year of his sobriety he was asked to distribute weed on the weekends and since Bob did it in his past life before he got super, he figured he could handle it. And his thoughts were why not take the extra cash to raise his 10-year-old son. He stopped going to meetings and stopped sponsoring folks, Bob became selfish and didn't think of any consequences. Delivering 40-50 pounds of weed from the springs to Omaha. Then his real job interfered with his runs where he was making 10k a weekend. Bob went out drinking for his birthday and got a DUI and relapsed September 14, 2015, at 2am. Bobs son went to a teacher and didn't feel safe at home anymore. Bob had to get the whole family involved calling his mother from New Mexico so after his 72 hours hold his son never went back home to Bob, he instead went with his mom back in New Mexico. Bob lost it all and wanted to end it all. It broke him. Bob was going to end it all when he got a phone call from a friend who needed something, claiming he saved his life Bob made a decision to OD on meth. So, he would start smuggling again across state lines cleaning his money through a tattoo shop. Bob was told on by an anonymous source and was arrested and taken to prison. Charged with 26 charges at first, he ended up only really being charged with 3. 11 months behind bars on a 5-year sentence. Getting involved with a re-entry program he was offered a job and was able to start being in the yards again and sponsoring. He has lost 140 pounds since 2022 and eventually would become employed at Tribe recovery homes.
