This woman “did all she knew to do”. She wasn’t lazily sitting back and being a victim. She had actively looked for a solution, sought wisdom from all the “experts”. She spent everything she had. Because in our culture- our time is money and leaders are taught that they should focus on the things that they can do and delegate things that others are able to do.

Jesus is pretty counter-cultural; He was constantly challenging people’s worldviews. But the reason Jesus decided to get down in the dirt that day was simple. God asked Him to do it. Jesus always did and said what His Father asked Him to do. So, why did God ask Him to do this? I believe one reason is because He knows us. He knows it isn’t always easy to get out of our comfort zone, do those things that are hard and serve. And He also knows that in this world, we will need to be able to do so if we want to shine His light around us.
