Hebrew term "lashon hara" is defined at evil speech and Jewish tradition and scripture record that Joseph gave "evil reports" to Jacob about his ten brothers. Gen. 37:2. Lashon hara is commonly referred to as gossip or slander. This is one of the reason's Potifer's wife slandered Joseph through accusation.
One New Man Bible by William J. Morford has a excellent article discussing gossip and slander in the bible glossary. I attempted to find a link from his website but was unable to find one. Here is an excerpt from the glossary: "Gossip/Slander. We will be judged by every idle word, as Y'shua spoke in Matt. 12:36. and i say to you that every idle word which men will speak will be paid back with regard to his account on Judgment Day. 37. for you will be justified because of your words and you will be condemned because of your words.( p. 1730). Joseph had a problem with this based on Gen. 37:2 ......Bringing slanderous reports showed wrong motive. when his goal apparently to curry favor with Jacob, not to change the brother's behavior. (p. 1731-32).

References:
Hebrew term "lashon hara" is defined at evil speech and Jewish tradition and scripture record that Joseph gave "evil reports" to Jacob about his ten brothers. Gen. 37:2. Lashon hara is commonly referred to as gossip or slander. This is one of the reason's Potifer's wife slandered Joseph through accusation.
One New Man Bible by William J. Morford has a excellent article discussing gossip and slander in the bible glossary. I attempted to find a link from his website but was unable to find one. Here is an excerpt from the glossary: "Gossip/Slander. We will be judged by every idle word, as Y'shua spoke in Matt. 12:36. and i say to you that every idle word which men will speak will be paid back with regard to his account on Judgment Day. 37. for you will be justified because of your words and you will be condemned because of your words.( p. 1730). Joseph had a problem with this based on Gen. 37:2 ......Bringing slanderous reports showed wrong motive. when his goal apparently to curry favor with Jacob, not to change the brother's behavior. (p. 1731-32).

Real scientific discoveries must be distinguished from theories, however. Science, especially geology, is still in its infancy and the testimony of rocks uncertain. True statements of God’s word must also be distinguished from man’s interpretation of them. When men finally agree on the age of the earth, then place the many years (over the historical 6,000) between Gen.1:1 and 1:2 there will be no conflict between the book of Genesis and science.”
I don’t know if I agree with the idea that it was a flood but surely something catastrophic and cataclysmic took place (which was a judgment) between the time God created earth (Job 38: 4) and his recreation of earth (Gen. 1:3-25) The 6,000 years is our time now since the recreation. Dake’s does suggest that there is a dateless past that is before Gen.1:1 according to Job 38:4-7. The heavens rejoiced over the creation of earth in time past.

That is it in a nutshell. Moses was declaring to the second generation, Go up and possess the land, Be the Giant Slayers, do not be afraid face off the giants. Take the blessing of the LORD. He will fight for you!!!

As Yahweh’s people, we need his heart for the lost so that we too can be kings and priests asking Yahweh for forgive sin and rebellion. He is faithful to forgive when we are faithful to ask.

In this portion is a very interesting verse: Exodus 38:8 that tells us that there were women serving at the tent of meeting. We share a little about this scripture, too much to try to glean in a short time but we encourage you to check out this article that talks about the women who ministered in the tabernacle. Who knew?

The Hebrew word used in Exodus 38:8 is tzov’ot. There isn’t a lot of common opinion around this scripture and its meaning. 1 Samuel 2:22 confirms there were women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting. It just isn’t clear what they did. This Hebrew word used describes levitical jobs and has strong military connotations as it can be used to refer to soldiers, troops or companies. In ancient culture it was common for women to be employed in the office of porters or doorkeepers which might include the house of a high priest in the time of Jesus. (John 18:15-17. The article below discusses the meaning of the Hebrew word and the role of these women as possible gatekeepers.

We briefly mention the priesthood of Yeshua, (Heb. 7:17, Psalm 110:4) and the order of Melchizedek. Time did not permit a full discussion around this mysterious figure in scripture. My understanding around his appearance in Gen. 14 has changed as I have sought understanding from other bible scholars. We should always be willing to expand our understanding of scripture. Scripture is meditative literature. It is to be pondered. For more study on theme of priesthood in the Bible and the mysterious Melchizedek I offer the following as suggestions.

As far as I understand, the outpouring services are being moved to another location. The University does not believe the outpouring is supposed to stay there, revival is mobile like the miskan , the tabernacle was meant to move. Hopefully, we are inspired by the student leadership, faculty and staff of Asbury University, to prepare ourselves to be the dwelling place of His Presence. So that wherever we are our flames are burning and His fiery Presence is manifested.

We are deeply saddened for his family and friends who will cherish his memory and we extend our deepest condolences to them. As a member of the family of God, I am so thankful for the gifts of knowledge that Dr. Heiser shared with us. He will be missed. We will treasure all that he so willingly shared with us that has impacted our hearts, ministry and faith.
