In response to Sweden's agreement with Turkey to no longer provide support to Kurdish groups in Syria, the Rojava Committees, a Swedish solidarity group, have declared their continued support for the Peoples' Defence Units and the Women's Defence Units.

A Syrian Opposition MP, Firas Qassas, has said that Ankara and Damascus share a common interest in destroying the Kurdish-led Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. “In terms of their aims, there is not much difference between the attitudes of the Turkish and Syrian governments," he said. “They agree on racial superiority and fighting the values of pluralism and coexistence.”
