In this episode we sit with Michael again just to talk about various random topics. MIchael expressed concerned about water and air quality so we stared off with talking about the Department of Enviornmental Protection (D.E.P.) a NYC agency that is responsible for the care of these elements. We went into discussing different reasons that people neglect attending NYC beaches. MIchael attemps to explain why the ocean water in NYC beaches are green as opposed to the clear blue water you see when you visit other areas and islands. We talked about Mayor DeBlasio's future plans for the city as it pertained to natural disaster emergency fund relief. We also got into the Aquaduct project currently in progress and how it would potentially change the quality of the water for the nearby residents of the city. When discussing air quality and the air pollution here in the city Michael talked about the evolution of technology where though we will never really stop using gas cars, we are moving in a geeral direction from gas cars to electric cars which is better on the air. We tackled the topic of what it means to live in the center of a food desert. We know that not having access to affordable or quality fresh food. As we approached the end of the conversation we started discussing potential solutions that we as a people can work on everyday that can help us end the hunger and disease that plagues various urban communities where fresh food and drink is scarce.
