In 2015, Stateside Vodka launched as a premium, American craft vodka brand and distillery in the heart of Philadelphia, PA. Under Clement’s leadership, Stateside Vodka was ranked the top-selling Pennsylvania Distilled Spirit in 2018. The company then launched its first ready-to-drink canned cocktail brand in 2021, Stateside Vodka Sodas, and experienced immediate success in the Philadelphia metro area. Following this success, Clement and co-founders Zach Pappas, Matt Quigley and Bryan Quigley identified an opportunity to create a flavorful, high-quality, vodka-based hard tea with 100 calories or less. This led to the launch of Surfside Iced Tea + Vodka in late 2022 and the brand took off like a rocket ship from the very beginning. In just two years, Surfside has become the #1 fastest growing brand across all alcohol beverages at scanned retail and has expanded its distribution nationwide across all 50 states and internationally to the Bahamas, Grand Cayman and St. Thomas. The brand was named VinePair’s “2024 Rising Drinks Brand of the Year” and earned a “2024 Hot Brands” award by Shanken IMPACT, recognized for the #1 growth spirits brand sales performance worldwide from 2022-2024.

Before the start of Stateside Brands, Clement was CEO of Clement Pappas & Co., a leading national supplier of private brand juices. The company was founded in 1942 by his grandfather Clement, a hardworking U.S. immigrant who exemplified the American Dream. Growing up, the business played a central part in Clement's life, and he later worked in an executive capacity for the company for 15 years. Clement led the sale of the business to Lassonde Industries in 2011 and served as CEO until his exit in 2014. Before Clement Pappas & Co. he worked for Arthur Andersen Business Consulting in New York. Clement was also honored as Ernst & Young’s 2023 Regional Entrepreneur of the Year for his leadership with Stateside Brands.

Clement and his wife Lauren reside in Haddonfield, NJ with their two sons, Paul and Joseph. After tragically losing their premature son Peter in 2015, Clement and Lauren founded the Peter Joseph Pappas Fund with a mission to cure preeclampsia by 2050. Clement is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute, a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization, and has served on numerouscharitable and corporate boards.

As the Founder and CEO of Project K-9 Hero, Jason has dedicated his career to making sure retired Police K-9s and Military Working Dogs receive the medical care, rehabilitation, or rehoming that they deserve once their service to our country is complete. He is a former Field Canine Coordinator for the National Explosives Detection Canine Team Program with the Department of Homeland Security, Lead Instructor and Course Developer at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives National Canine Training Center, Kennel Master and K-9 Handler for the U.S. Department of State in Iraq and Afghanistan, Police Narcotics K-9 Handler and Trainer, and a U.S. Army Military Police Officer. Jason holds a Master’s Degree in Security Management, is a published author, and an executive producer of television and film. Long Bio - Jason Johnson has a passion for Police K-9 and he has dedicated his life to working, training, and taking care of them. Jason believes that Police K-9s perform selflessly for the departments and agencies they work for, and once they retire, are not offered that same respect by those they serve. It is Jason’s goal to educate the public on the costs and responsibilities of adopting a retired hero and to ensure that every Police K-9 in the United States has their medical, food, and end-of-duty costs taken care of so they may enjoy the healthy and happy retirements that they deserve. After volunteering his time for three years at the inception of the organization, Jason now acts as the CEO of Project K-9 Hero. Jason is also the CEO of Paradigm Defense Concepts and the CEO of K-9 Solutions International (K-9SI), where he manages domestic and international K-9 detection as well as defense contracts, training, and consulting services with civilian and government agencies worldwide. Since founding Project K-9 Hero, Jason has been working hard to grow the foundation so that he can serve as many retired K-9 Heroes as possible. Before he founded Project K-9 Hero, Jason served as a Field Canine Coordinator for the Department of Homeland Security, where he provided program oversight and subject matter expertise to law enforcement and federal canine teams. He provided leadership, technical advice, guidance, and direction to ensure the overall effectiveness and utilization of explosive detection K-9 teams. He ensured that national program policy, standards, and guidelines were communicated in a clear and effective manner to a variety of internal and external stakeholders, while also ensuring adherence to such measures. He served as a K-9 liaison to civilian and law enforcement officials on the federal, state, and local government levels. Prior to working as Field Canine Coordinator, Jason was a K-9 Trainer/Instructor and Course Developer for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. He planned, developed, and was the Lead Instructor for Explosive Detection Courses to a variety of domestic and international federal agents, law enforcement, and U.S. Military. He trained, instructed and certified students in multiple federal agencies such as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, U.S. Marshals Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Central Intelligence Agency, National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency and many other state and local departments, working specifically in explosives detection. He worked with the Military Working Dog (MWD) program, providing Home-Made Explosives training to over 1,000 MWD’s prior to their deployment to high-threat areas such as Iraq and Afghanistan. He was also involved in developing and instructing the agency’s first off-leash detection program, SEEK (Search Enhanced Evidence K-9), and the agency’s first SRT (Special Response Team) dual purpose patrol/explosives detection canine. He instructed explosive detection canine courses for the U.S. Department of State’s Anti-Terrorism Assistance Program, which served over twenty-one countries. Jason was the 2011 recipient of the Johnny A. Masengale Memorial Award, which is given out nationally to those who made outstanding contributions in the explosives field. Prior to working for the ATF, Jason served as an Explosive Detection K-9 Handler, Trainer, Kennel Master and Protective Security Specialist for the U.S. Department of State in support of the Worldwide Personal Protection Services contract with U.S. Diplomatic Security throughout Iraq and Afghanistan. He was assigned as one of the primary explosive detection handlers to the U.S. Ambassador and the Regional Security Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, and was the lead K-9 handler used in the 2009 Afghanistan Presidential Elections. He was the lead K-9 handler used in the 2008 Iraqi elections for south central Iraq, providing explosive detection sweeps for the U.S. Department of State, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the U.S. Department of Defense along with various other governmental agencies and programs. Jason also served as a Police Officer for the City of Yakima, WA, and the City of Puyallup, WA. During that time, he specialized as a K-9 Handler and K-9 Trainer with the Washington State Police Canine Association. His additional duties included being a member of the SWAT Team, a Defensive Tactics Instructor, a Field Training Officer, and the Officer in Charge of the Honor Guard. Jason honorably served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer, where he received numerous awards and recognition throughout his assignments for his service. Jason holds a Master’s of Science and a Bachelor’s of Science from Bellevue University in Security Management. He has served as an adjunct professor at Henley-Putnam University, teaching a Master’s program in Advanced Executive Protection. Jason is an accomplished author and has contributed chapters for two separate University textbooks, used for teaching at the Master’s level in Strategic Security. He was published in both K-9 Cop and Police K-9 magazines with featured articles. Jason has also published his own children’s book about his inspiration to start this organization, titled “K-9 Flash Becomes A Hero.” K-9 Flash was named the 2018 Law Enforcement Dog of the Year in the country by American Humane. Jason actively works with Congress to see that his vision of the K-9 Hero Act, HR #5081, gets passed as a law to bring a positive change to the K-9 Community for generations to follow.

<podcast:transcript url="https://transcription.spreaker.com/sounder/6a2eadec-3bc5-4e9a-9ec6-66c0e7eb2dff/6a2eadec-3bc5-4e9a-9ec6-66c0e7eb2dff.srt" type="application/x-subrip" language="en"/><podcast:transcript url="https://transcription.spreaker.com/sounder/6a2eadec-3bc5-4e9a-9ec6-66c0e7eb2dff/6a2eadec-3bc5-4e9a-9ec6-66c0e7eb2dff.txt" type="text/plain" language="en"/><podcast:transcript url="https://transcription.spreaker.com/sounder/6a2eadec-3bc5-4e9a-9ec6-66c0e7eb2dff/6a2eadec-3bc5-4e9a-9ec6-66c0e7eb2dff.vtt" type="text/vtt" language="en"/><itunes:author>News Radio 1170 WWVA (WWVA-AM)</itunes:author><itunes:subtitle>Jason Johnson, CEO Project K-9 Hero – BIO Short Bio - Jason Johnson is a globally recognized subject matter expert in the International K-9 Community. Palmer - President and CEO - Arthritis Foundation

ANN M. PALMER President & Chief Executive Officer Ann Palmer, currently the President and CEO of the Arthritis Foundation, understands how living with a chronic disease affects the entire family. Empowering people, their family and friends, and their community to live their best life despite their disease is Ann’s passion.
Ann has held executive leadership positions with the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She has led organizational redesign initiatives to create successful models for effective mission delivery.
Throughout her career, Ann has successfully inspired volunteers to exceed fundraising goals, raising $100 million in major gifts, and doubling special events revenue during her time at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She is known for being an industry leader who makes sound business decisions based on the latest trends and data and for delivering programmatic impact that meets the needs of communities large and small across the country and internationally. She has partnered with leaders in Spain and China to establish new and viable osteoarthritis organizations and with other international leaders to grow and transform their organizations.
Ann values teamwork and collaboration. She excels at leading large and diverse teams to deliver results, thinking big, and always leading with a mission. She has guided organizations through extensive organizational redesigns resulting in significant fiscal savings while creating scalable delivery models enabling greater reach and impact to people and communities in need.
Ann has always been a volunteer herself, serving as PTA president and board member for many years, and she also continues to be active in community groups like Jaycees and the Chamber of Commerce. She is a frequent guest speaker for policy groups and is recognized as a successful leader for patient advocacy groups. She currently serves as the President of the National Health Council.
Family is important to Ann, a mother of three grown children. She lives in Florida with her husband Gary and their dog Charlie. She enjoys entertaining, gardening, painting, and maintaining her large dollhouse.
With more than 30 years of experience within the voluntary health space, Ann has revolutionized the organization’s approach, structure and focus to deliver the greatest impact in the lives of those with arthritis. Since joining the Arthritis Foundation in 2013, Ann has established the organization’s four pillar areas, introduced an annual planning process to identify and measure priority outcomes and successfully implemented a consolidated structure.
With a BS in education from the University of Delaware, Ann has a strong background at three large voluntary health organizations: the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Beginning her career with the American Cancer Society in 1979, she held numerous roles of increasing responsibility over 18 years. In 1997, she joined the American Diabetes Association to oversee increased fundraising for their Mid Atlantic region and led a nationwide operational restructuring that increased efficiency. During her 12 years at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Ann’s leadership brought new business systems and a great team of staff and volunteers who annually raised a net income of more than $100 million.
Ann is the immediate past chair of the board of directors of the National Health Council, which consists of voluntary health agencies committed to helping people with chronic diseases and disabilities and their caregivers. She’s also recognized as one of the 100 most influential leaders in the health care industry by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Ann is passionate about her work as the Foundation’s leader: “I am truly inspired by the dedication of our volunteers and the courage and perseverance of people with arthritis and their families.
