Every child carries the DNA of his parents and that's why one can say, 'He has his Dad's nose but has his mum's hair!'
It's the same way man has the sinful nature of Adam by default because of Adam's disobedience. Adam's disobedience subjected all human race to the 'curse' of spiritual death. (Romans 5:12)

'All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God,' (Romans 3:23, Isaiah 64:6, Romans 5:12). Preachers emphasize this a lot but never really emphasize what really matters which is/are the verse(s) that come(s) next, especially in Romans 3, and 5.

Have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God? Yes.
However, this isn't the message. This is not the bone of contention. This simply shows the helpless state of man- the fact that every man needs a Saviour. Man in himself can not please God. The sinful nature of man has put a barrier/veil between God and man. Because of this, Man keeps trying to 'reach' God/find God/seek His forgiveness. Some fast night and day, 'seeking the face of God.' Some offer sacrifices. Some even harm themselves all in the name of seeking God and finding His forgiveness. Is God that far away?

One might say, 'I am morally sound. I don't lie and neither do I steal.' I hear you, but it isn't what a man does that make him a sinner. It is the nature of a man that makes him a sinner.
I will always use the analogy of the injured man. My pastor uses it a lot. You see an injured man who is bleeding and his shirt is stained. And then, you say, 'Let's remove his shirt, wash it and give him a fresh one.' Will this make the bleeding stop? Of course, not. When something like this happens, you deal with the root! That is, you focus on taking care of the injury to stop the bleeding and not on the stained clothes, otherwise, the clothes will keep getting stained while the injured man lies there and probably bleed to death.
This right here is the state of man. No amount of fasting or sacrifices can cover or clear your sins. Until the sinful nature is dealt with, man will continue to wallow in sins and will be a hell candidate.


"For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins."

This right here is what I was talking about. All have sinned, and then what?
Remember the DNA analogy? Exactly. In the same way, you didn't have to do anything wrong but automatically took on the sinful nature of man, so it is also in salvation.

The Bible says the wages of sin is death. Nevertheless, someone already paid these wages for you. For God so loved the world that He gave...(John 3:16).Jesus paid this prize in full. Jesus is God, reconciling the world to Himself. He came and dealt with the root! He went for the injury and not the stained clothes. He took your place: Died in your stead, buried in your stead, went to hell for 3 days, fighting for your freedom, and finally got resurrected by God on the third day. All in your stead; whether you are a Muslim, Buddist, Atheist, whoever you are, your sin has been paid for! This means you have paid your dues in Jesus. God no longer holds you accountable for your sins. You are pure and blameless in the sight of God! And guess what? The veil has been torn! The barrier has been shattered! God isn't far away from you. He is right inside of you. You have unrestricted access to God. He says to come BOLDLY to the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16).

However, there is one last thing. Imagine you have an unknown rich father who had died some years ago but left you a whooping sum of $5M in your account. But you have been suffering all your life, jumping on buses and getting harassed by bus drivers. You've been squatting with people who have practically turned you into a house help. Your $5M is waiting in your bank, untouched and appreciating month by month but you didn't know! Your late Dad's lawyer then finally finds you and tells you that you have a sum of $5M in your account and all you have to do is go to the bank and claim what is yours! Exciting right? Now, let's not get too carried away. I know many people still wish one day their parents would tell them that their real father is Bill Gates or Dangote. Nonetheless, this one is much more important than money.
Now that you know that your sins have been paid for, you have been reconciled back to God and you have unrestricted access to God, what is your next step?

"If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved."
- Romans 10:9-10(NLT)

And that, my friend, is your next step. Believe, Confess, and Recieve! It's as simple as that.
Why fast for 100 days to cover the sins of a few years? Why offer sacrifices to an inanimate object to get the approval of God when the solution is just to believe in Jesus?

The Gospel of Christ too good to be true. It is not complicated. And this is why many take it for granted. The Bible calls it the 'so great salvation.' It is a gift of God to humanity. This God simply expressing his love to humanity(John3:16-17). This is why it is called the Gospel of grace. You didn't do anything to deserve it. Nothing you do could earn you this great gift.
