This podcast features two of my Dad's closest friends talking about Dad (1945-2016), fatherhood and lessons learned. First, we jump right into a conversation with acclaimed visual artist Patrick Thibert, who also happens to be my Godfather, my personal Marlon Brando. We conclude with Adriaan Verhulst delivering his amazing tribute at Dad's celebration of life service.

Dad met both when he moved to Canada from Bermuda in the early 1960's, and they always had his back. I am forever grateful to both gentlemen.

Lift Me Up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHwZXvbGX_I
Light Up The Sky https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3EJ_4GBSes

I heard their debut album "I Wish We All Could Win" and couldn't turn it off until it was done. That doesn't happen often. When we met, I was delighted to find out they were as kind and engaging as their music, and they even introduced me to 80s hair band Richard Marx! The Founder of True Tunes is one of several hats that John wears, and he shares many of the lessons he learned in spite of himself. Part of his mission is to encourage us all to "Listen to better music and listen to music better."

A noble mission, indeed.

Standup comedy is something that has always fascinated me, as it works best when there's no safety net. Steve has shared the stage with the best comedians and musicians, and shares his secrets for leaving a lasting impression. I used to play Steve's material on The True Groove, and met him years later, when he realized that Canadians love him more than anyone else in the world.

And for good reason.

There is so much wisdom and balance in my conversation with Actor/Coach/Producer/Encourager Sarah Booth. (None from me, of course.) I am so happy to share her insights with you!

Matt Zimmerman (aka "The Imperial Stormtrooper") and Todd Fadel (aka "Lord Vader") share their origin story, talk about performing in full costume at the most wretched hive of scum and villainy known as GMA Week, and provide an ideal visual tour of the great city of Portland, Oregon.

You can get CD copies of the Twin Sister album through their Facebook page. Buy 10 or more - it's the perfect gift for shut-ins!

Derek has always had that effect on me. After any one of our many conversations, my entrepreneurial spirit is recharged and ready for action! One of my favourite quotes from this session is "the battle always takes place in your head."

We discuss making the most of Dad Time during a global quarantine, taking back your fitness and health and helping others to do the same, and always asking yourself, "what’s my next venture?".

His passion for coaching is clear. Enjoy!

In fact, without Tony, there would have been far less Groove in The True Groove, as he introduced me to the two words that changed my life:

"Dr. Shore."
We talk about how he knows far more about Canada than I ever will, his time in the recording studio with bands including The Lost Dogs and Scaterd Few and how working with a myriad of artists has translated to his work in voiceover and studio production.

Tony is also my podcast guru, and we discuss the heart behind The ObviousPopcast, introducing audiences to a whole new musical palette and his upcoming 50th episode!

One of Pick's many successes was the ability to tour across Canada repeatedly. What impressed me the first time I saw them was the way they could work a crowd into a complete frenzy, most of whom were also seeing them for the first time. Every time they played, they built relationships that consistently added to their fan base and kept them on the road.

We talk about their tours with dc Talk, Guardian, Steve Taylor and more, the joys of border crossing and the lessons they learned being a Canadian band with an international following!
