When I look in mine I see a woman who has battled with inner demons which hasnt always been successful; a person who has hated herself, wished her life away and feels a failure. A woman who had struggled with her own mind, sometimes having euphoric highs with crashing lows, having to crawl out of the hole of darkness wrestling with her rationales of life.

I also see a woman who has become strong, learning to try and love herself for who she is and is accepting of others. Not to sympathise with them but empathises and can give back support to those who need it with understanding and gratitude. Its time to open our minds and bring mental health to the forefront of discussions.

When I look in mine I see a woman who has battled with inner demons which hasnt always been successful; a person who has hated herself, wished her life away and feels a failure. This was a speech she competed in school for English for part of her assessment in year 9. The story of her friend is not true; however she wanted to make people listen as more young people are suicidal and going through work it.

Young people's mental health is something she is passionate about just as I am (her mum).
