This is something we hear too often within the brown community. <br /><br />Yes to some extent we have gone through similar experiences that others have. This is an advantage that allows us to help others. <br /><br />But there is a big part we miss. The part of actually understanding what the person is feeling and experiencing.<br /><br />We can never truly go through the exact same experience as someone else. <br /><br />Think of the pandemic for example. Either you can express it or supress it. <br /><br />If it is suppressed, it has so many negative side effects. <br /><br />For example, resentment, pain, anger, sadness and inability to control our emotions. <br /><br />Crying is not common I know. I still struggle to do it more often. <br /><br />But it has so many benefits. <br /><br />YOU will not carry suppressed pain, anger, sadness and resentment. <br /><br />YOU will be better able to handle your emotions. <br /><br />YOUR emotional capacity will be stronger in difficult and stressful situations. <br /><br />You do not need to cry everytime you are down. Either you can express it or supress it. <br /><br />If it is suppressed, it has so many negative side effects. <br /><br />For example, resentment, pain, anger, sadness and inability to control our emotions. <br /><br />Crying is not common I know. I still struggle to do it more often. <br /><br />But it has so many benefits. <br /><br />YOU will not carry suppressed pain, anger, sadness and resentment. <br /><br />YOU will be better able to handle your emotions. <br /><br />YOUR emotional capacity will be stronger in difficult and stressful situations. <br /><br />You do not need to cry everytime you are down. My earliest memories of being bullied occurred when I was 6 years old. It destroyed my self-confidence, my self-worth, and I started to think it was just a part of my life. <br /><br />This was despite the fact I was scared of going to school almost every day thinking " Who will be bullying me today".<br /><br />I got bullied for the majority of my life. However, once I started doing a few things, I have since overcome this obstacle and became stronger from it. Now I want to share that with you!<br /><br />I did a speech on this topic in 2020 and it got me to round 3 of the Toastmaster's contest. I finished in the Top 3.<br /><br />Nonetheless, the message in that speech is worth sharing beyond Toastmasters.
