A. Who is Jesus? (1:1-4a,10b,16-17b)
1. His the logos,the truine God, the Eternal God, the Creator of all things, the Author of life, sustainer, the truth, gracious.

B.His mission.(1:5,14b,6b,29,36,45)
To reveal God, his truth, Grace and impute righteousness to man as the messiah.

Comment:
Jesus reveals God because he personally knows him more than any one let it be the angels. And of course no one knows God except when he himself is God. (VS. 18). Besides, Jesus' coming to reveal God and his truth manifests a fallen state of humanity and thus the need of a Savior who has now come to redeem man graciously. Thus, Jesus comes as the messiah or the promised seed of Adam (Gen 3:5) who will not only  truimp over Satan, but also triumph over sin and death at the cross. In other words, He is come as the 'sacrificial lamb' who will die so that all our sins are pardoned and thus by his death, we are declared as righteous or innocent. This is how we have been favored before God.

C. His coming. (1:6, 19-34, 14,)
First of all it is John the Baptist who announces his coming. He comes as his forerunner to prepare hearts of men to receive the Savior. He comes in the spirit of Elijah to testify about the great prophet who has come. However, we must note that salvation is not through John's ministry, but through Jesus'.  The testimony of John is vital in that as the prophet of God, he reveals to us who actually the messiah is since no one knew him. It was at Baptism that John declared Jesus as indeed the promised one and since then, he labels him as the "lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world".(VS. 29,36) .
Additionally, Jesus 'dwelling' on earth in verse 14 depicts the idea of God's presence that was only limited in the temple, has now settled among men. But sadly, many Israelites to whom salvation was revealed did not embrace it. Why? because they didn't belong to God as we shall discuss it later.

D. His ministry in action.(1 :35-51)
It's amazing how John the baptist introduces Jesus to his followers. He tell them to "Behold ! at the lamb that takes ways the sins of the world!" (verse 29,36.). In other words, John introduces Jesus to his students as the passover over lamb who through his voluntary death on the cross we are pardoned of all our sins and we are saved from the coming wrath of God! Yes, John proclaimed the gospel to his followers who then turned to follow Jesus since salvation is not through John the Baptist but Jesus the Christ/messiah.
However, these two young men  followed Jesus with aim of investigating if He is indeed the longwaited messiah. Let us see how Jesus reacted or responded to them:
1. He welcomed them to his house and probably revealed to them that he is the messiah. (Vs. 38-41).
2. Omnisciently, he choose Peter and Nathaniel as part of his 12 apostles. (Vs. 42,48).
3.Jesus choose these men to be his disciples and apostles.
Their response:
1. They determined to follow Jesus which portrays that they treasured him above all else.
2. They shared the good news about finding the messiah to to others and invited them to Jesus the chirst.

CONCLUSION.
1. In John 1 we see that Jesus is the Eternal God and the second person of the God head i. e trinity. He takes on the title of the "the son of God" which signifies his humble role of the messiah. In his incarnation i. e 100%divinty and 100% humanity, he left his glorious position in order to relate and reveal God's nature and works of grace to us. It is therefore through him that: truth  is given once again to man, and righteousness is imputed to us who belong to him yet by faith in him. If we trust him as the Savior then it is evident that we are born again by the will of God. (vs. 12).Thus salvation is by faith alone in Jesus Christ. (Eph 2:8)
2. Our response as born gain Children is to invite many to him through sharing the gospel or what he did in order to save us from Sin, death, and Satan.
3. Jesus being the son of man takes us back to Genesis 28 and thus signifies him as the Covenantal God and as a bridge of man and God. And thus the divinity of God has ascended to man through Jesus the Christ. AMEN
