We all have ideas about how we should be treated by others in this world based on our own experiences and the values held by the societies in which we live. My issue is that some of the ways that we as women feel we should be treated does not always line up with how we present in the world. Narratives like:
I deserve to be treated like a Queen!
I am an independent woman!
What did the man do to cause friction in your relationships?
Doesn’t provide a full picture and can lend to women showing up in undignified ways and expecting Queen treatment. Or, showing up as an independent woman who does not need a Man, or, not accepting their part in the demise of a relationship!
All of these things without a full understanding of how to navigate each can create unhealthy habits that stays with us from relationship, to relationship to relationship!
