Cyclists as well would be seen wearing reflective clothing for safety purposes especially riding at night so they can be seen, but Now I’ve been noticing a lot of the younger generations rocking the reflective joggers or reflective tops. Ever since glow in the dark garments has come back in style I normally would see people wear them as a festival look and then add embellishments to make the whole look stand out, or would be worn on a regular day. Now it’s making its way on runways shows which I find really incredible and creative. The fashion industry is really taking a creative mind and putting it out there for people to really show off their sense of style.
Source vogue says that Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello created a neon disco theme for Saint Laurent’s Fall/Winter 2019 Paris fashion week collection. Now taking a look at the many different outfits, the collection was very thought out and very well put together.
The setting of the show was completely dark to showcase the feathers, polka-dotted, and striped inspired garments and completely glowed in the dark through flashing LED lights. Now when I think of LED, the first thing that comes to mind is that they installed an actual LED light into their garments to make it glow, which may or may not be the case but couldve also installed some sort of hidden battery pack in the garments so it wouldnt be seen, but we never know when it comes to the industry. We always seem to be amazed by what the people in the industry can come up with.
But if you did not know, According to Ehow, Some clothing is woven or knitted with ultraviolet-reactive or metallic, reflective threads, so which means it shines on a light in the dark.
Getting into the next segment I’d like to bring up Zendaya Coleman. Zendaya is a singer and actress and is loved by many of today’s generations. Zendaya attended 2019’s Met Gala Awards show and dressed up in a Cinderella ball gown.
Now this wasn't just any cinderella ball gown, it was a really well constructed from head to toe cinderella ball gown. If you did not watch the Met Gala or you just simply do not know about the Met Gala, then you won't know what im talking about.
For those who don’t know, The Met Gala is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City which is held every year.
Now let’s get into what Znedaya wore for the show.
For this year's Met Gala, singer and actress Zendaya wore a beautiful grey cinderella ball gown by Tommy Hilfiger. Zendaya came out with a fairy godmother who is currently her hairdresser and as he waved his wand her dress expanded to a rounder more fuller appearing gown and it also lit up. There’s no source as to how they managed to make a vision come to life, but I have to say she looked absolutely amazing!
In order to pull that look off you would have to study every single detail, and teaming up with Tommy Hilfiger to make a stellar light up ball gown had to have been the best ones yet. Zendaya was able to execute the blonde wig, she made sure to add the black choker and the blue headband. The dress was detailed to the tea starting at the puffy sleeves going down to the bodice and corset line. The only thing she was missing was the long gloves, but we're not gonna let that bother us.
Zendaya made headlines after making a way in 2018’s Met Gala. She was dressed as Joan of Arc wearing Versace but did not come to play for 2019s attire.

Now this is the first time i am ever hearing about sound activated glow in the dark t-shirts. From a description on amazon, They are graphic tees that not only glow in the dark but is activated through sound. How it works is basically The LED (EL) sound activated light up T shirt animation lighting is controlled by built-in sensor, when the music comes, LED panel lighting beats up and down. To me that sounds like a really cool at home DIY project. I most likely wouldn't wear it out but im sure theres youtube videos that has tutorials on how to make this shirt. And if there isn't a youtube video on how to DIY a sound activated glow in the dark t shirt, then i'll definitely find a way to be the first to make that tutorial.

If you thought clothes were the only things that can glow in the dark, well you thought wrong!!
There is an online store called “tape dealer”. According to Steven Cole, They make reflective tapes using machines that bond together multiple layers of material into one film. There are two main types of reflective tape, glass bead and micro-prismatic. They reflect in two different ways but are made in similar fashion with glass bead tape being the less complicated of the two to product.
Clothes aren't the only products being tested to glow in the dark. Shoe brands like adidas and nike are coming out with different shoe collections and are really bringing the shoe game up to speed. I personally do not own any of the pairs that these brands are selling, but I would love to own one as soon as I can get my hands on one.
As you can see technology being advanced is really shaping the fashion industry in a way where we can come up with these crazy ideas and bring them to life. We as consumers are shaping the industry as well by wearing the products that's being sold to us.
