Serial Entrepreneur John Stetson, the owner of Stoner’s Pizza Joint Fort Lauderdale, has always been a pet lover. As a young child, his family worked with a local animal rescue to adopt his beloved bichon mix Max who was his dog for over 19 years. With that love of animals that was instilled by early years, he decided to reach out to the Humane Society of Broward County, and a partnership was born!

Each week over 500 flyers are included on pizza boxes to promote dogs, cats, and other pets currently available for adoption. In an effort to further promote #adoptdontshop, John generously offers a free year of pizza (1 large pizza per week) to anyone who adopts a pet from the flyer and sends in a picture.

Stoner’s Pizza Joint is best known for stepping up during the COVID-19 quarantine and committing to donate 10,000 pizza slices to those in need. What started as a need to help students who didn’t have lunch during quarantine, has since expanded to include medical staff, first responders, and families that are food insecure. They supported numerous organizations including, the Salvation Army, Broward Health, Peanut Butter & Jelly Project, Covenant House Florida, Arc Broward, Memorial Regional Hospital, Hope South Florida, FLITE Center, Broward County Public Schools, Mobile Pantry of Broward, to name a few.

This past election day, Stoner’s Pizza Joint gave away complimentary pizza at the ArtServe voting location. The hope was to encourage people to come out, enjoy some delicious pizza (socially distant of course), wait their turn if needed, and most importantly - VOTE. Pizza with its tasty dough and loaded with gooey cheese can bring people together.
Stoner’s Pizza Joint Fort Lauderdale is located at 1509 E Las Olas Blvd in Fort Lauderdale. Their menu offers an assortment of specialty pizzas, calzones, strombolis, sandwiches, hickory-smoked chicken wings made daily in-house, freshly prepared salads, and freshly baked desserts. Inspired by late Sublime front man Bradley Nowell, the Nowell Family Foundation provides addiction recovery services to the music community through the combined strength of the industry and those who have been touched by the power of music.
The Nowell Family Foundation is raising funds to open Bradley’s House, a six-bed recovery facility that will provide treatment for people in the music industry with opiate addiction, regardless of their financial situation. The goal is to offer a top level of clinical care, including medical detox and the ability to treat the most acute cases, through nationwide partnerships.

The Motivational Edge is a Solutions Focused youth development organization that leverages culturally relevant arts and other platforms to engage, educate and empower young lives.

The Motivational Edge uses culturally relevant arts as a motivational platform to inspire youth toward academic achievement, increased self confidence and to build essential life skills. ME provides youth with a creative outlet for musical expression, while at the same time integrating components of literacy into its music programs. Success in school is a vital part of ME's mission, therefore, free tutoring is available for all youth, and is mandatory for students that want to participate in music and arts classes but are receiving a “C” or below in one or more core subjects in school. Using music as a motivational and learning platform, we impel students who are underachieving toward desperately needed academic instruction. The youth currently served by The Motivational Edge are walking testaments that music is an extremely powerful learning tool when integrated into the academic setting. Our unique programs integrate reading and writing skills with music instruction in innovative ways, which motivates and benefits our students. The Art of Creative Writing and Lyrical Expression includes a cutting edge writing component, which emphasizes different writing styles, types of poetry, and various forms of lyrical developments which improve performance in the classroom and on standardized tests. Some of the programs set themselves apart by providing students with iPads, purchased by the Crockett Foundation, to enhance learning. Upon successful completion of key programs, students are awarded their own tablets. The Foundation’s goal is to keep them learning year-round while being technologically savvy.
