Speaking during his maiden speech today before the August House he area member implored government to consider paying farmers in time for the crops they sale to Food Reserve Agency- FRA saying it increases the household income and value for money hence deter briefcase buyers who are fond of buying the commodity from the vulnerable farmers at a give away price. The honourable further urged the government to increase on the number of beneficiaries captured under the Farmer Support Input Program-FSIP in his constituency as this will boost food security and alleviate high poverty levels at house hold level. The area member also noted that his constituency is richly endowed with natural resources such timber, rivers, and minerals which can be exploited for the benefit of the constituency and the country as a whole. The area of Member of Parliament who won the seat through a by-election has since thanked the people of Bahati for showing confidence in him to represent them in Parliament. Bahati seat was declared vacant on February 27 this year by the speaker of the national assembly after its MP Mr Harry Kalaba resigned from the PF, a party which readopted him as a sore candidate for Bahati constituency in 2016 general elections.
