The day of Atonement was a symbolic picture of the coming restoration of our direct relationship with God... but it was only a symbol. The reality of re-establishing that direct relationship would only come to pass through Jesus Christ. The offerings of Leviticus 16 are no longer a part of our observance of the day of Atonement. The day of Atonement was a symbolic picture of the coming restoration of our direct relationship with God... but it was only a symbol. The reality of re-establishing that direct relationship would only come to pass through Jesus Christ. The offerings of Leviticus 16 are no longer a part of our observance of the day of Atonement.
