Being able to have patience when life seems out of control will allow you to make decisions that give you peace of mind. Being able to find your inner strength will allow you to embrace life’s challenges confidently and Live Full Out.

On today's show, we listened to how people deal with stress and loss, not only physically, but emotionally as well.

Our first caller, Susan, has grown up in an environment where family was always a big part of her life with family get togethers at holiday time as well as throughout the year. As time has gone on however, she has noticed a separation or a gap growing and is concerned that if she doesn't do something, she will lose what she is used to. Listen to how Nancy asks her questions to help direct her on the path to solving her issue.

Nancy's guest today was an inspirational guest, Joan Brock, who, as an instructor working with blind students, finds out that she herself is also going blind. As time goes on and she becomes blind, she gets yet another devastating blow. Her husband, whom she met at the school, starts to get serious headaches and is diagnosed with a rare and fatal cancer of the sinuses, a disease so rare that most would never even suspect it and passes at the young age of 37, leaving behind a now blind Joan and her daughter. The rest of the story and what made Joan the person she is today is a story you have to hear to believe.

Our last caller, Bella, has a problem known to just about everyone reading this, the art of procrastination. As Bella herself admits... "I have a habit of procrastinating when making decisions and completing tasks, specifically regarding my career. I'm a late planner, but sometimes, I feel like I miss opportunities by procrastinating until the last minute, because I'm not motivated enough to do things beforehand. How can I solve this?" Tune in to hear Nancy's suggestions. Some of them are not as impossible as you think.

In closing, remember this. Life is not always cut and dried or things we have no part in controlling. Yes, the things that happened to Joan and her husband were certainly not expected, nor desired, but meeting the challenges life presents to us says more about us and the way we respond than if we simply give up and throw our hands in the air and say there is nothing I can do so why bother. When obstacles present themselves, you are going to make mistakes and at times feel like you have failed. Ultimately, it is important to remember that we, as humans, are resilient and can overcome any obstacle in due time. Have patience and seek out community. An obstacle or challenge may come up when we least expect it. However, it is important to confront them head-on. We often try to cope with obstacles by reflecting on what has gone wrong. However reflection is also about acknowledging what has gone right. Remember to focus on positive affirmations as you proceed in life.

Our first caller Barbara has been dealing with an unsupportive friend and wonders whether it is the right time to let go of a friendship that is not serving her. Tune in to hear how Nancy helps Barbara assess her friendships and accept the nature of evolving relationships.

Our next caller Nini seeks advice on how to live life with a more stress-free approach. Noah experienced alcohol in ways that he didn’t recognize were abnormal in his teenage years until he garnered the self-awareness to make changes in his adult life. Listen to Noah’s raw story as he recalls the first time he was pressured into consuming alcohol, his acts of vandalism and reaching points of desperation. His longtime battle of fighting through an emotional dependency affected his own well-being as well as that of those around him. Noah encourages others to use resources of help to cope with suicidal thoughts and gain awareness of their own mental health. Be mindful of those around you and situations and triggers that might compromise your sobriety.

Our last caller Amy has a good friend who is showing early signs of dementia. She worries that her friend will not be able to ask for the help she requires, and she questions whether she should focus on being a caretaker or a companion. When obstacles present themselves, you are going to make mistakes and at times feel like you have failed. Ultimately, it is important to remember that we, as humans, are resilient and can overcome any obstacle in due time. Have patience and seek out community.
