"Pete" Johnson, retired District Court Judge of Jefferson County, Alabama speaking to us about Veterans Court, a new court initiative under development for our community. Judge Johnson served as deputy district attorney in Birmingham, practiced law, and then for about 24 years, starting in 1984, served as a District Court Judge in Jefferson County's Criminal Division. He initiated the county's Drug Court in 1996 and presided over that court for 10 ten years until he retired in 2006. Since his "retirement" Judge Johnson has served as Chairman of the AL Drug Court Task Force helping to start and mentor drug courts in 66 Alabama counties.
