Imagine, if you will, a time not so far away, where the air was filled with the vibrant sounds of a band called Culture Club. They were a lively group formed in England in 1981. known for their colorful outfits and catchy tunes that made everyone sing. And now, here’s Gail Nobles to tell you all about it. 

Gail: Good evening! We’re going to go take a break from the Wonder Clock tale and take some time for music. Let’s go back to the days of Culture Club.

Among their many songs, "Time (Clock of the Heart)". This beautiful melody was like a gentle breeze, assuring us that time is precious. Released as a special song, it followed their earlier hit, "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me," which had already captivated the hearts of many.

But here was the trouble: there were three princes, and each one of them was just as clever as the other two, so that the old king could not tell which to choose as the right one to sit in his place. He thought and thought and thought, until at last he plucked an apple off of his thinking-tree, as folks say. All three of the princes should go out into the world, and whichever of them should fetch back an apple from the Tree of Happiness should rule over all of the kingdom. Once upon a time there was a lad who was a fisherman, and every morning he shouldered his net, and went down to the river to catch fish to sell in the town.One morning as he walked beside the edge of the water, he came upon a great tall stork caught in a trap that had been set for the water-rats.

It was a tender heart that the young fisherman had under his jacket, so when he saw Father Longlegs in such a pickle he waded out into the water, among the reeds and arrowheads to where the other was, and loosened the noose from about his leg.

The storks bring good-luck to folks some people say, and that was what happened to the young fisherman.“One good turn deserves another,” says Father Longlegs; “cross your heart three times, cast your net into the water yonder, and see what you catch.” So the lad did as he was told, and when he drew his net to the shore, there was just one fish in it.

Yes; just one fish, but that was worth the catching, I can tell you, for the scales were all of pure silver and gold, so that it glistened like the moon on smooth ice, and it was most wonderful to see. ...

I’m turning the pages now. The end of chapter 7.
You’ve just heard the story of Cousin Greylegs, Great Red Fox, and Grandfather Mole in the last episode. You’ve learned something about roguery and how Cousin Greylegs and the Great Red Fox made their living.

They remind me of men in roguery. There are rogue landlords never doing what they are supposed to do. Never fixing anything, but you pay a tremendous amount of money a month. The roof leaks, the floor rots, and the home was never worth living in. One person moves out and the next one moves in. The landlord continues to pocket money. Rogue landlords. Rogue rip-offs and making that reputation for themselves. It’s not a good thing.

When you don’t do the right thing, you can’t have any good luck. Sooner or later wrong doing can catchup with you. It makes bad business, and no one will want to deal with you anymore. When you’re always full of tricks and dishonesty. That is the meaning that I find in the word Roguery in the Wonder Clock tale looking at reality.

I’m turning the pages now. The end of chapter 7.
You’ve just heard the story of Cousin Greylegs, Great Red Fox, and Grandfather Mole in the last episode. You’ve learned something about roguery and how Cousin Greylegs and the Great Red Fox made their living.

They remind me of men in roguery. There are rogue landlords never doing what they are supposed to do. Never fixing anything, but you pay a tremendous amount of money a month. The roof leaks, the floor rots, and the home was never worth living in. One person moves out and the next one moves in. The landlord continues to pocket money. Rogue landlords. Rogue rip-offs and making that reputation for themselves. It’s not a good thing.

Hi! I’m Gail Nobles, and I hope you’re enjoying the Wonder Clock. The most recent story you’ve heard has been chapter 6 The Princess Golden Hair and the Great Black Raven.

“Once upon a time there was a king who had 3 daughters and the youngest name was Golden Hair, was the prettiest maiden to be found within the four ends of the earth.” _____ Howard Pyle "The Wonder Clock"

Now lets talk about the song by the band America from their fifth album Hearts in 1975 written by Gerry Beckley titled Sister Golden Hair. It was their second single to reach number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, remaining in the top position for one week. Beckly says:

“There was no actual sister gold hair. The lyrics were inspired by the works of Jackson Browne. It was that style of his that led to a song of mine Sister Golden Hair.”

Gerry Beckly said he played the 12 string guitar and overdubbled the prominent slide guitar. I love the sound of that slide guitar.

Trouble was always jogging along with the solider. Even the rich man took home money and with him was Trouble. Everything went wrong with him too. Like the solider, Trouble dogged his heels where ever he went. For you see, Trouble visits everyone, and nobody wants him. He is harassment, hassle, worry, stress, distress, disturbance, disorder, and I could go on and on. Trouble tries to become us and tries to give us his name. He is someone we need to try our best to stay away from.
