You accomplish so much every day (that you probably get very little credit for) and you just keep raising the bar higher and higher!

You have collectively aimed into the stratosphere to be the most creative and dynamic leaders, the best parents with all the answers, daily life-savers to your children, the most understanding and loving partners, the best and most reliable friends….
It’s no wonder sometimes you feel like you could break!

Time for an Intervention
Overachievers tend to overdo it, and women especially put too much pressure on themselves to do an unrealistic amount of tasks every day. If this sounds like you, it is possible that have set too high expectations on yourself, and you could be making yourself sick. Being a perfectionist and having a terribly demanding mindset is wearing you out!

Time to Reclaim Your Sanity!
If you are one of the 55 million women struggling with too much to do and not enough hours in the day, you won’t want to miss this interview.

Current brain science shows that a lack of consistent emotional nurturance in infancy and childhood, when the brain is still forming, can result in difficulties with self-regulation, causing us to seek comfort and nurturing outside ourselves, often substances. Food. Alcohol. Narcotics. Tobacco. Gamboling…

Here’s the good news…
History is not our destiny and the brain CAN be re-wired for optimal emotional health. Our addictive bad habits are usually related to something emotional and therefore, we can learn to self-nurture instead of turning to outside substances.

New Book Offers a Mindful Approach to Ending Emotional Eating
No matter what substance has a hold on you and your emotions, this book will be a game changer for you. When Food is Comfort: Nurture Yourself Mindfully, Rewire Your Brain, and End Emotional Eating, author Julie M. Simon explains that when we eat in the absence of physical hunger cues, routinely choose unhealthy comfort foods, or eat beyond full, something is out of balance.

On Today’s Show

The author of When Food is Comfort, Julie M. Simon will be joining us today to discuss the following:

▪How we can develop self regulation, or the ability to manage emotions, moods, thoughts, impulses and behaviors.

▪Seven skills that make up your “Inner Nurturing” – plus the insight, tools and tips that will help you practice self- connection and self-nurturance.

▪How to attract the things that NURTURE you into your life – and 4 ways you can learn to better nurture others.</googleplay:description><googleplay:image href="https://d3wo5wojvuv7l.cloudfront.net/t_rss_itunes_square_1400/images.spreaker.com/original/20095b2be56dc70948afb4ad57f7d175.jpg"/><googleplay:explicit>No</googleplay:explicit>

Don't Think. The best way to cope is to CREATE.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: The worst thing you can do is NOTHING. Activism and creativity have been proven to keep our mental faculties in shape when the world feels uncertain and misplaced.

True innovation requires faith in what you cannot see.
This is a tricky suggestion because it implies that you need to have a clear and concise vision for your future, like the ability to see into a crystal ball and predict your destiny.
Not exactly.
A better way to describe it is being able LET GO of what you do not see and knowing that –whatever it is– it will always be in your favor. When you can have this kind of faith, you can then enjoy watching new things show up. Life is all about unexpected surprises!

Not only do women with money transform their own lives, but also the lives of their children, their families, and their communities. More women are building their own businesses and reaching top corporate levels than ever before… but far fewer than men are earning six and seven figures.

Sounds like we need a miracle.

In her new book, Money, Manifestation & Miracles: A Guide to Transforming Women’s Relationship with Money, author Meriflor Toneatto zeros in on why this is, and more importantly, she addresses what needs to happen so we can change this state of affairs.

This topic arrives at a perfect time, with an important message:

“The more income you make the more social impact you can create in transforming lives and changing the world.“

What if…
…you had the courage to extend your limits and create the life of your dreams, one that is rich and fulfilling in every way– financially spiritually, and emotionally?

An estimated 40 million Americans, about 18 percent of the population over the age of 18, struggle with anxiety, including more than half of all American college students.

So that should make you feel better.

Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the United States, affecting 40 million adults age 18 and older, or 18.1 percent of the population every year.

Only about a third of those suffering anxiety get treatment, meaning that millions struggle with daily worries and fears without respite.

Many of these people cannot afford traditional talk therapy on a regular basis, or have access to medical prescriptions, and need solutions… like YESTERDAY.

So what’s the deal?
Alarmist news. Threats of war. Division. Recessions. Social media fights. #MeToo triggers. Family. Responsibility. Career. Future. Does it every end? and more importantly…

On Today’s Show

I am thrilled to introduce you to my phenomenal guest, Corinne Zupko, the author of the new revolutionary book, From Anxiety to Love: A Radical New Approach for Letting Go of Fear and Finding Lasting Peace (New World Library, February 14, 2018).

From Anxiety to Love helps readers learn to undo anxiety-based thinking by internalizing the teachings of ACIM, fostering mindful shifts in their thoughts and actions, and connecting to their Inner Therapist, the deeply gratifying, enormously comforting inner voice that affirms our safe oneness with the universe rather than our ego’s perception of danger and separation.

Whether struggling with everyday stress or near-crippling discomfort, today’s show will show you new ways to heal from–rather than just coping with– fear and anxiety.</googleplay:description><googleplay:image href="https://d3wo5wojvuv7l.cloudfront.net/t_rss_itunes_square_1400/images.spreaker.com/original/20095b2be56dc70948afb4ad57f7d175.jpg"/><googleplay:explicit>No</googleplay:explicit>

Is leadership as we know it…becoming obsolete?

We are living in a complex world.
If you haven’t noticed, there is an aversion to the way old types of systems worked in regards to top-down management hierarchies. If you haven’t noticed, there is an aversion to the way old types of systems worked in regards to top-down management hierarchies. Men and women of diverse educational and economic background can access information and resources that were unavailable just a decade ago. Anyone with a great idea can cultivate and lead.

Command-and-Control forms of leadership are on their way to becoming obsolete…

…but learning to SHARE power in an equal and balanced way has become a great challenge.

In The Five Roles of a Master Herder: A Revolutionary Model for Socially Intelligent Leadership, best selling author Linda Kohanov addresses the changing role of leadership and offers a new approach that is rooted in equine-based wisdom and the nonverbal leadership skills of ancient herding cultures.

On Today’s Show

I will be introducing you to the author of The Five Roles of a Master Herder: , Linda Kohanov who has adapted the profound, time-tested “master herder” approach for effective use in modern life and in the current corporate structure.

Today we will learn the socially intelligent form of leadership that combines the following roles:

▪Dominant – directs and asserts

▪Leader – inspires and motivates

▪Sentinel – observes and watches over

▪Nurturer/Companion – connects and supports

▪Predator – restores balance and makes tough decisions</googleplay:description><googleplay:image href="https://d3wo5wojvuv7l.cloudfront.net/t_rss_itunes_square_1400/images.spreaker.com/original/20095b2be56dc70948afb4ad57f7d175.jpg"/><googleplay:explicit>No</googleplay:explicit>

YOU have a responsibility to TRUTH

Finding the Truth Isn’t Easy
I haven’t seen the outside of a library in weeks.
One of the reasons that I decided to go to graduate school is because I was tired of not knowing the truth. I haven’t seen the outside of a library in weeks.
One of the reasons that I decided to go to graduate school is because I was tired of not knowing the truth. I wanted to learn how to research credible resources and be able to collect accurate and unbiased data.

Have we forgotten why we are here?

In the last decade alone I have found myself, like so many of you, in a never-ending and ineffective argument.

“Your media source lies. Mine tells the truth.”

If we are not operating with the same set of facts, how can we even begin to heal the state of our nation?

This argument has become such a widespread epidemic that we have lost the ability to communicate with one another and work through the issues that are most important like the welfare of our planet, our physical and mental health, the ability to educate ourselves, freedom of agency, the ability to earn an honest living, and so much more.

Some of us don’t even know what is at stake because we are so misinformed. The rest of us are constantly trying to figure out which sources we can trust for credible insight.

Who can we trust?
I wish I had an EXACT answer for you, but that would defeat the purpose of this discussion AND my credibility.

What I am going to talk about today is how to be more aware of when you are being lied to, ways to use your noggin’ (and your instinct) to know when a source may be manipulating the truth, how to remain skeptical with the ability to still receive accurate insight, and… just maybe… how to get out of the mess we are in.

Time for you to answer it.

When technologies and advancements that were originally intended to serve humanity cause us to become BLIND TO HUMANITY, we need to make a commitment to restoring our emotional connection for the sake of human dignity. It’s a top priority.
Awareness of Awareness

Are we even aware of when we have completely lost ourselves to the DARK SIDE?

It all starts when we make a firm decision to GROW…whatever the cost. But here is where it gets tricky: We cannot grow unless we identify the behaviors that need improvement. We cannot identify our behaviors unless we are willing to truly see our shortcomings.

And most of us are not.
Why should I have to behave with kindness and empathy when everybody else gets to be mean and nasty?

Because hate begets hate.

And when you do what everyone else is doing, you are part of the problem.

And it’s an indication that you are on your way to losing the ability to think for yourself.

And you must call upon your courageousness before it disappears forever.

And you have the ability to cultivate a new culture by learning how to eliminate violent communication and practicing a more positive way of interacting with each other.

If you want to know more about how you can be a part of the solution, you will not want to miss the first 10 minutes of the show today.
On Today’s Show
A Zen Legacy, Take 2

You may remember a couple of weeks ago, I had attempted to interview Anne and Joan Watts. Due to some technical audio challenges, we had to scrap the entire interview. =( =(

It didn’t seem right that I keep all the wisdom that was conveyed for only myself…so we’re going for it again today.

As previously intended, we will be getting deep inside the inner-workings of Alan Watts, widely known as the philosopher who first popularized Zen Buddhism and other Eastern philosophies for the counterculture of the 1960s. The brand new, never before published book The Collected Letters of Alan Watts is a treasure trove of letters that was discovered and lovingly curated by his first born children, Joan and Anne Watts.

Not only do these events take a toll on our psyches, in the book Reclaiming Your Body: Healing from Trauma and Awakening to Your Body’s Wisdom (New World Library, June 14, 2017), author Suzanne Scurlock-Durana explains how they they cut us off from the wisdom of our bodies as well.
Are you paying attention to the signals your body is sending you?

“The body has its own language that is older and more primal than most of us realize,” writes Suzanne. “Most of us are conditioned at a very young age to turn off this inner guidance system of sensation, imagery, and inner knowing. Our priceless body wisdom is getting lost as our culture speeds up and becomes more technology driven. Compounding this issue is the fact that life’s traumas also cut us off from our body’s wisdom.”
How to reconnect with your body’s internal GPS

The book explains how unresolved trauma becomes lodged in our bodies, blocking the ability of its communication system to share its wisdom and strategies.

This can cause us to flounder when making decisions, remain in unsafe or less-than-ideal situations, and/or end up living a life that truly isn’t ours — while the whole time our body is madly signaling us with the answers and solutions we seek!
On Today’s Show

The author of Reclaiming Your Body, Suzanne Scurlock-Durana, will be joining us on today’s live show. Listen in as she sets the stage for experiencing full body presence by offering ways to experience direct sensation. We’ll be talking about each main “wisdom area” of the body — the heart, gut, pelvis, legs and feet, bones, and brain — that explore each area’s unique role in the process of developing full-body presence.</googleplay:description><googleplay:image href="https://d3wo5wojvuv7l.cloudfront.net/t_rss_itunes_square_1400/images.spreaker.com/original/20095b2be56dc70948afb4ad57f7d175.jpg"/><googleplay:explicit>No</googleplay:explicit>

A Zen Legacy

What's in a legacy?

We should all hope to raise children who can see expansive meaning in the contributions we have made in our lives. Every single year we say the same thing: “THIS is going to be my year. I can FEEL it!” And then we look back and categorize them into good years vs. the bad years depending on if things went our way. We are victims to our experiences whether we are satisfied with them or not… because we continue to give away our power.
Not this year.

The best way to ensure that you have an amazing year… is to rewrite your story and change your paradigms.

Check out these true inspirations:

❤︎ A veteran nearly drinks himself to death before writing a book that captures the horror of living through a war. The writing helps him turn his life around.

❤︎ A young mother who learns she has stage four cancer as she holds her newborn asks the author to help her write her story before she dies. She starts a blog, writes her memoir, and survives.

❤︎ A beautiful woman carries twenty years of rage inside until she begins to write and share poems revealing her brutal rape. Her writing transforms her life.

❤︎ A now-famous writer hikes the Pacific Crest Trail to recover from the pain of loss and divorce. She tells the author, “My writing gives me the greatest catharsis of my life.” She writes a book that changes both her life and the lives of her readers.

❤︎ A father, engulfed in the pain of losing his six-year-old son at Sandy Hook Elementary, explains to the author how writing letters for the Sandy Hook Promise has allowed him to hold on to treasured moments with his son and keep his own sanity.

True stories like these are the heart of The Story You Need to Tell: Writing to Heal from Trauma, Illness, or Loss written by author Sandra Marinella. Upon facing breast cancer in 2012, she decided to leave teaching and write to heal. And she did.

During four years of research Marinella interviewed more than 100 writers. These unsung heroes share their painful stories and shed light on how writing can change us and redefine the way we live.
Writing to Heal

Expressive writing offers us physical, psychological, and social benefits. Studies in neuroscience has proven that our brains are wired for stories that define us and give us meaning. When we learn to “rewrite” or edit our personal stories, we transform ourselves as well as the lives of others.
On Today’s Show

Today we will talk about the power of expressive writing to help you navigate trauma from your own personal life experiences! You will definitely want to tune in today if you have been recently traumatized by:

▪The death of a loved one

▪Post-partum depression

▪A family member’s illness

▪Being in a relationship with an addict

▪Breaking out of an abusive relationship

▪Losing a job

▪Divorce

▪Cancer Treatments
or even a significant life change!

Sandra Marinella, the author of The Story You Need to Tell, will be sharing with us the five stages of writing to heal — stages that anyone facing difficulty can employ to make their lives better.</googleplay:description><googleplay:image href="https://d3wo5wojvuv7l.cloudfront.net/t_rss_itunes_square_1400/images.spreaker.com/original/20095b2be56dc70948afb4ad57f7d175.jpg"/><googleplay:explicit>No</googleplay:explicit>

So you want to be an activist?

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”

― Anne Frank

Social Change is Everywhere.
I spent ten years advocating for parents and small business leaders. Social Change is Everywhere.
I spent ten years advocating for parents and small business leaders. We set out to give Corporate America a run for their money, and we did just that.

Yay, us.

In the last 12 months I have shifted my advocacy efforts again. I know that I am not the only one who has felt compelled to use my voice for social change. Look around and you’ll see that this modern-day activism is more than a trend. It’s a paradigm shift. We are living in a transformation of astronomical proportions.

All it takes to become an activist is passion, knowledge and a desire to help bring about change.

Identify your gifts and talents that will open the space for new growth. The nation is undergoing a major overhaul and now more than ever there is a need for activists, change makers and social advocates. Positive engagement has impact. Your voice matters.

I ask myself every day, “How can I be better?”

The biggest change makers are not afraid to ask this question. It involves recognizing when your knee jerk reaction to any kind of injustice is getting defensive. If you are too consumed with protecting what you believe belongs to you, or with all of the injustices that are making you a victim, there is a good chance you have closed yourself off to your own power, and your ability to contribute to a better world. Look within. We are never really done growing. If you can change your own life, you have an opportunity to change the world.

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”

If you have ever heard yourself say something like this, chances are you have gotten yourself stuck under a set of beliefs that are no longer serving you.

Many of us feel like we are just riding around on the same merry-go-round. It’s not just the feeling of running your voice and feeling unheard. It could also be that you are experiencing the the same disappointing results over and over again. All of our experiences have value, but when the same patterns keep recurring, it is very possible that you are still holding on to some limiting beliefs that are holding you back.
How does this happen?

You are no longer in alignment.
When we’ve lived for awhile, we begin to believe things based on the experiences we have. Once we have a solid belief about something, certain experiences will naturally show up to confirm and solidify these beliefs…even if they aren’t true. The discomfort you feel when these undesirable situations repeat themselves? That’s what contrast feels like when your beliefs and desires are not in alignment.
The effect of this is called CONFIRMATION BIAS and it is usually stronger for our most emotionally charged issues.

The key is to learn how to recognize which patterns need to be restructured, and then be able to create a new belief that is more in alignment with the person that you have become. Easier than it sounds.

These guys are not experts in fatherhood. Not by a long shot. But somehow they are getting through it… as former drinking buddies do. Their secret? Alcohol, lots of talk about poop and… an ongoing thread on instant messenger.

Six dads share an instant messenger thread to share advice, tears, and dirty jokes as they help each other navigate the joyful insanity of fatherhood.

One very, very late night, in a state of panic, a new dad reaches out to five of his buddies via instant messenger to ask for advice on being a father. What results is a nonstop stream of consciousness as the Daddy Drinks daddies overshare, gripe, grouse, complain, and offer questionable guidance to one another on how to keep their kids alive and their marriages intact.

Daddy Drinks is the real transcript lifted from that messenger thread that shines a comedic light on the idea that almost any man can be a father—but almost no father knows what the hell he’s doing!

Daddy Drinks is a celebration of the ups and downs of raising a new baby—not just the fatigue and worry—but also the immense joys of newfound fatherhood.

Every day it seems, we are being presented with a new sexual allegation of a public figure, and many of us have become especially challenged with how to process it all. Some women are being triggered with massive PTSD while others are traumatized to learn that someone they’ve admired has a history of abusive behavior. And then there is all the vitriol and confrontation. People everywhere are heated.

We’d love to be able to turn it all off and pretend it isn’t happening. We’d love to blame someone for this experience. We shouldn’t be forced to go through any of this. Haven’t we been through enough for one year?
We are in the test of our lives.

How are we supposed to react when we learn that some of our greatest allies for women’s rights and feminism are perpetrators themselves, with a history of abuse towards women?
First: Acknowledge how hard this is.

None of this is easy, and you are NOT WRONG for how you may be feeling. Honoring yourself is more important than ever. Don’t blame ANYONE. Not yourself. Not anyone else. Take care of your mental state and allow yourself to go through all of the emotions that may be coming to the surface for you right now.
Next: Surround yourself with the love and safety of others.

Blossoming sisterhood is everywhere. As women discover that many of their worst experiences are the same as others, they have become empowered to take action and hold each other up. Whether you are speaking out, or just being a really good listener, don’t squander the fact that progress is being made.
Finally: Keep your eye on the prize.

We are definitely in unchartered territory now and we are just figuring it out as we go along. Like everything else that is new and unfamiliar, this moment in time is an opportunity of immense purpose. But one thing is clear…WE MUST FIGURE IT OUT TOGETHER.

We’ve come too far to let patriarchy win. It’s our turn to win. And we must do everything possible not to compromise our values and our belief systems at the risk of losing this fight. We must also get clear on what winning looks like.

Do we win when a perpetrator is severely punished?
Or do we win when women are less violated and vulnerable?
What are we willing to sacrifice to cross this finish line?
Do we have a better chance of winning when we show up in hate or in love?
What do our most effective actions look like as agents of change?

I still wonder sometimes if I’ve really accomplished anything worthwhile in my 43 years. I battle a whole bunch of old paradigms that haunt me and keep me from moving forward.
I still have days where I cry. Like yesterday. I cried. And cried. And cried.

My entire core was in desperate inner conflict. And NO WONDER I was so tormented. My desires and my beliefs were in complete contrast with one another.
Ouch. Ouchity Ouch Ouch.

If you have ever wanted something SO BAD— like soul-aching desire— where you are being called to show up in a place you KNOW you belong, but you can’t shake the negative self thoughts that make you BELIEVE that you cannot get there… you know how painful it can be.
Alignment cannot happen unless your BELIEFS and your DESIRES are in agreement.

Then I remembered… I GOT THIS. And so do you.

If your “Doubting Demons” are reminding you of all the times you failed… (or something else failed you…)

If you are suddenly reminded of all the dark times you busted your butt for a fraction of the results that were expected… (or unexpected circumstances blew your ambition…)

If you are torn between WANTING to go to a destination that you are positive will fulfill you AND your life’s purpose, but you are equally as positive that you are NOT CAPABLE... (because you are just unlucky that way…)

If you are afraid that trying and failing will serve as a mere reminder of just how UNcapable you really are…(because you MUST be cursed…)

If you are just tired of your inner demons running the show, dictating your ability to BELIEVE in all that is possible and preventing you from moving forward… Today is a show you will not want to miss.
On Today’s Show
Resist Persist INSIST!!

When you don’t follow your desires and serve your purpose, you not only create pain and anguish for yourself, you DENY THE WORLD YOUR GIFTS AND TALENTS.

We have a new world to build. WE NEED YOU TO SHOW UP IN YOUR GREATNESS.
We need you to show up in LOVE.

Today’s guest, Scott Stabile experienced the horrible trauma of both parents being shot to death when he was just a young teenager. Then he lost his brother to a heroine overdose. Despite his pain, Scott shows up in love… every single day. His latest book BIG LOVE: The Power of Living with a Wide Open Heart is a permission slip to braveness and tells how love and forgiveness is the greatest way to heal.

For Scott, love is the base note for everything good—compassion, forgiveness, kindness, authenticity. Today we will be learning from Scott how the CHOICES WE MAKE from love can only serve ourselves and our world positively.</googleplay:description><googleplay:image href="https://d3wo5wojvuv7l.cloudfront.net/t_rss_itunes_square_1400/images.spreaker.com/original/20095b2be56dc70948afb4ad57f7d175.jpg"/><googleplay:explicit>No</googleplay:explicit>

The Power of ONE Woman

Lately, I have been incredibly inspired and deeply moved by the rising sisterhood in our nation. What kind of DRAMATIC IMPACT will you make?

As agents of change, we must be willing to acknowledge and call ourselves out on the thoughts we have that limit our ability to evolve. As women, we were conditioned for so long to judge one another. Historically, we have sized one another up and then used these negative belief patterns to tear each other down. It’s now more important than ever that we pay attention to the belief system that we are operating with and be more conscious of our biases.
We are at the precipice of CHANGE.

I have never been more clear about where we are headed, and I am absolutely thrilled at the prospect of what is coming up next for all of us. Women everywhere are creating meaningful conversations that specifically meet our challenges in regards to oppression, gender disparity, body shaming, gender discrimination, and a lack of representation in our nations legislation.
The time for sitting on the sidelines is over.

We all have a place in this movement. Whether it’s to find your voice and use it to create deeply effective messaging, or to support and elevate women in leadership roles, WE ALL HAVE THE POWER TO SHAPE THE FUTURE that we wish to leave to our children. There is an increased demand for women’s voices. Now more than ever, we must harness our truths and tell our stories.
On Today’s Show

One of the ways in which we can all contribute to this encouraging movement is to create greater recognition of women and their accomplishments.

Today I will be interviewing an award winning filmmaker who has so powerfully stepped into her message: “My Power of One”. Last week I felt my central nervous system shutting down. I was on sensory overload and my brain processes were spinning like a rainbow wheel on a computer that was just given too much information all at once. Was this due to stress?
Nope.

All of the new information I had received was good— really good. I wanted to celebrate ALL of it— but I didn’t no where to begin.
I desperately needed to decompress.
Spinning rapidly was only fun as a child.

Whirling from too much excitement doesn’t feel so different from whirling from too much trauma… and it can still make you lose your stomach. Cognitive thinkers do not simply move to the side lines. Stop the Madness. You can do it.

You always get to choose your own personal spiritual approach to either accelerating or decelerating the momentum.

The destination? Enlightenment. It doesn’t matter how you get there, who you feel you are connecting with or what you believe is out there. All of it works.

Some people pray. Others meditate. I personally connect with my higher source by journaling. Writing in a stream of consciousness gets me into a state of natural energetic flow. I can ask my higher source anything I want, and before the impetus of my pencil stops I find that I’ve downloaded a new revelation.

Children are watching and learning how to deal with these adverse times by observing our responses and reactions. Have you honored yourself the way you'd hope for them to do for themselves? How many million dollar ideas have you talked yourself out of over the years? Have you fully stepped into your talents? It's important to build confidence in your unique creativity. But more importantly, to use your creative life force to become a cultural arbiter.

The elusive nature of self-belief is critical.
If you are someone who undervalues your own assets, you are denying the world innovation. Many women leaders underestimate their capabilities and rarely feel competent even when they have peaked at high performance levels. In truth, those who are most accomplished and credentialed struggle with self-worth and assurance all the same.

The gap... is in your confidence.
You may feel like a victim to circumstances that were painful and traumatic, but everyone--- even you--- has the ability to start telling a new story.

Re-brand yourself with courage.
Choose to untether yourself from belief systems that are no longer serving you (were they ever?) Don't allow yourself to get sabotaged by outdated old-school expectations. Now is the time to act with conviction, integrity and dignity! We must declare that anyone's underestimation of us will only further drive us to prove they are wrong.

On Today's Show
There is a pink elephant in the room.
Make no mistake. THIS is the feminine shift that the experts were predicting for years prior to now. The world has never seen anything like this, so ambivalence is not exactly an outlandish reaction for us to have. It may feel as if we have taken several steps backwards, but our overall progress is monumental.

How will you choose your place in this forward movement?

No one can ever accuse you of doing nothing. Being a change agent is more than trolling for arguments on social media. It's the willingness to get down in the mud and get dirty. Opportunity is absolutely everywhere and ripe for the taking. Once you have trained yourself to see it, you will never UNSEE it again.

Last weekend I attended a memorial service that celebrated the life of a brilliant and creative man who had a profound impact on everyone who knew him. Leaving us far too young, I knew Gary Smoot as an award winning theatrical scenic designer, but I learned at his service that he was so much more than that. He was a magician, an actor, a friend, a father, a brother, an uncle, an inspiration, an athlete, an adventurer, a creative problem solver, a master of space, a genius of life...

He was an artist who had pushed himself to his highest potential in many realms -- over and over again. Nothing got in his way to enjoy, love and create. Maybe I was wrong, but it seemed like he didn't take things too seriously... there simply was no time to waste. It was as if he knew his time here was limited.

Like the gift of a lifetime, the message I received was loud and clear.
Suddenly, I knew --without a doubt-- how I wanted to improve upon my own life. I was reminded of a promise I had made to myself long ago that I would live it up every single day, as if any one of them could be my last. I would laugh a lot, take risks a lot, feel a lot, enjoy a lot, learn a lot, love a lot, play a lot, create a lot, strive a lot, fail a lot and reinvent myself a lot.

Loss is a curious thing, isn't it?

There are common virtues that live inside all of us, but sometimes it takes tragedy to awaken them.

What if we were ALL courageous enough to actually CELEBRATE our beautifully imperfect selves, our messy lives and our complicated relationships with ourselves?

What would that look like for YOU?
Our truth feels dangerously VULNERABLE... But believe me when I say that coming to terms with your truth is about the most liberating thing you can do for yourself. Whatever you are willing to discover about yourself can result in massive and life-changing break-throughs.

Our minds are far too exceptional to go unrealized.
We usually have VERY convincing arguments with ourselves for why we believe that we are deeply flawed, fundamentally broken and undeserving of what we TRULY desire.

But, why not let that go?
Life is too short for self-sabotage. Why not live in the moment? Why not explore it all, have a sense of adventure, become both a teacher AND a student of life?

What would it look like if you had no more regrets?

On Today's Show

The greatest rewards often show up when we SURRENDER.
I want to let you in on a little secret. That word ^^ surrender... that is the magic word that fixes just about everything you can think of. I can't wait to share with you what I learned about the power of surrender and all that it entails.

Wonder Woman is flexing new muscles in Hollywood
For the first time, audiences for this superhero film were predominantly WOMEN... in a movie genre that typically caters to men. In other words, being a superhero is no longer just a male fantasy. Women want in on the action and they aren't waiting to be invited.

Thank you, Hollywood, for leading the way!

Permission to Embrace Your Inner Superheroine
One of the most revolutionary things about Wonder Woman is how the film is in direct parallel to the realities that we are living in today's society. The character of Diana Prince has increased the status of the feminist icon; indestructible in her values, never being set back by passionate sentiments, and is fighting the patriarchal power struggle with an unwavering love of humanity.

This Isn't Your Mother's Feminism
Forget everything you THINK you know about modern feminism. The time for being angry is over. This is not political, it's personal.

This does not look like any other time in history. We may have risen up with fierce tenacity, but women heroines are showing up with the greatest super power of all: LOVE, as opposed to fear. Don't look now, but the feminist movement is being redefined by both women AND men who see the value in combining our unique viewpoints of the world and are clear in their vision for a better tomorrow.

Unless you are really looking for it, you are likely unaware of how your mood and reaction is being manipulated by powerful, but hidden, artistic elements in the shows and films that you watch.

Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.

~Victor Hugo

How often have you paid attention to your mood while watching television or film? It’s likely you haven’t fully noticed the musical composition under the story line and dialogue as it dictates EXACTLY what you should be feeling.

The same scene can be drastically transformed by the choices of music behind it. What might initially be written as thrilling or frightening, can shift to paradoxical and light with a faster beat, a few chord changes and a different instrument.

Now THAT is power.
It’s no surprise that music can MOVE US. It’s a multi-layered art form, after all. What we’ll be talking about on TODAY’s show is the manner in which it quantifies the cognitive ramifications of our personal MOODS.

Whoever creates the music, has the ability to change the way you think and place you in a certain frame of mind. What may seem like simple melodic compounds are actually more tactical than you might recognize. Hollywood’s musical composers are perhaps the true “subliminal” geniuses behind the success of the most popular TV shows and films.

Music can feel organic and unstructured.

But do not be fooled. It is very STRATEGIC.

It's All in Your Head!
It's pretty easy to find yourself disenchanted with your acting career when you are surrounded with thousands of other disappointed artists in LA, but the negative space you have found yourself in? No one to blame but yourself. No matter how much you might feel infected by other's pessimism, it's only the voices in YOUR head that you need to learn to drown out.

And you absolutely CAN.

It starts with your ability to first recognize limiting beliefs that do not serve you.
Identifying self-defeating thoughts is half the battle! The other half of the battle is having the ability to shift perspective and focus your attention ONLY on the things that will have a positive impact in your career.

On Today's Show...
...I'll be sharing with you some tools that will help you understand where the toxic mind jabbering comes from, why its important to acknowledge it, and how to overcome it using strategies that will help you redirect your energy into inspired action.

I'll be sharing the space with my very good friend, super successful actress, comedian and writer, Darlene Hunt, who has honestly... in all my years of knowing her... never projected anything but a truly positive energy. That subject sounds like a promise from a bad infomercial, doesn't it? It may have even turned you off a bit. How is it possible to get anywhere in life without really trying?
Let me explain.

If anything at all feels like WORK, your mindset needs to be adjusted.
Most of us choose the industry that we are working in because we are COMPELLED to it. It brings us significant joy and excitement to imagine ourselves performing and playing in a creative realm. It should fuel you and your ambitions.

In other words, if you truly are in alignment, no part of what you are doing should feel like actual WORK. Every effort SHOULD feel effortless.

Right?!
If the hard work that you have committed yourself to in your career doesn't feel JOYFUL, but instead-- like an annoying chore-- that is a strong indication that a major mindset shift is in order. This is because your mental health is out of shape.

How to Get into Tiptop Mental Shape
Train yourself to BELIEVE.
That's right.

Without belief you will not find the kind of success that will land you squarely on a television or film set, where you belong. This can be one of the toughest things for actors to do. It requires letting go of some pretty limiting patterns that may FEEL comfortable and familiar, but they are only preventing you from bringing you honest-to-goodness results.

If you don't believe that you truly have something incredible to offer the industry you are working to break into... well, then guess what?
No acting training or audition technique course is going to make a difference for you right now.

On Today's Show
We're going to dive more into recognizing when your mindset is working AGAINST you, and how to consciously shift into a more productive --and more JOYFUL-- headspace. I am thrilled to bring on my good friend, the incredibly successful television and film actor, director and producer, Jillian Armenante.</googleplay:description><googleplay:image href="https://d3wo5wojvuv7l.cloudfront.net/t_rss_itunes_square_1400/images.spreaker.com/original/eed46ac00bc778e6ef175362d77b7a0c.jpg"/><googleplay:explicit>No</googleplay:explicit>

Let's Get down to Show Business

First episode where we are figuring out our place in the studio.
