REFORE PROJECT_European Remembrance: Europe's Past, Present Struggles
El proyecto REFORE NETWORK: Red juvenil para recuperar la memoria olvidada ha puesto en marcha una red transnacional que promueve la memoria olvidada europea, valorizando testimonios, personas, lugares y acontecimientos que no deben olvidarse y que tienen un gran valor para la memoria democrática europea. Cuando hablamos de la memoria olvidada europea, utilizamos la palabra «olvidada» para enfatizar que cada vez hay menos espacios para los jóvenes, principalmente en los ámbitos de la educación formal y no formal, dedicados a hablar sobre el origen de la Unión Europea y los valores europeos; lo que fueron y son los totalitarismos, el fascismo, el nazismo y el franquismo; lo que significa ser antifascista; qué es el Holocausto (causas, consecuencias e implicaciones actuales); el gran peligro del discurso del odio y la importancia del activismo social en favor de los derechos humanos y de la preservación de nuestra memoria histórica europea. El proyecto esta cofinanciado por la Unión Europea a través del Programa CERV (Ciudadanos, Igualdad, Derechos y Valores). The project - REFORE NETWORK: Youth network for Recovering the Forgotten Remembrance - has launched a transnational network promoting the European Forgotten Remembrance, giving value to testimonies, people, places and events that should not be forgotten and that have a great value for the European democratic remembrance. When we speak about European Forgotten Remembrance, we use the word "forgotten" to emphasize that there are fewer and fewer spaces for youth, mainly in the areas of formal and non-formal education, dedicated to talk about the origin of the European Union and European values ; what the totalitarianisms, Fascism, Nazism and Francoism were and are; what it means to be anti-fascist; what the Holocaust is (causes, consequences and current implications); the greater danger of hate speech and of the importance of social activism in favor of Human Rights and of preserving our European historical remembrance. The project is co-financed by the European Union through the CERV Programme (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values). 27 JAN 2026 · En este episodio grabado por el grupo Activistas por la Memoria Europea Olvidada de la Asociación Auryn, descubriremos la historia de TERESA MONGE. Carla, Marina y Aitana nos descubrirán la fugura de Teresa, una joven mujer leonesa, valiente y comprometida con la lucha por los derechos de las mujeres y la infancia. Su vida estuvo marcada por la pobreza, el activismo social y la represión brutal de la Guerra Civil española. A los 23 años, fue asesinada por las fuerzas franquistas, convirtiéndose en una de las miles de víctimas de la represión en León. Su cuerpo sigue aun desaparecido en una de las cientos de fosas comunes que aun quedan por exhumar. Su vida y legado siguen siendo un símbolo y ejemplo de lucha por la justicia social y los derechos humanos.
Con el proyecto REFORE NETWORK, queremos garantizar que la historia de Teresa no caiga en el olvido. El proyecto REFORE NETWORK ha buscado investigar y redescubrir historias de las mujeres protagonistas de la memoria histórica europea en cada país de los socios participantes, para poner en valor sus historias de vida, y contrarrestar el desequilibrio de género detectado en el relato de la memoria europea.
In this episode recorded by the group Activists for Forgotten European Remembrance of the Auryn Association, we will discover the story of TERESA MONGE. Carla, Marina and Aitana will introduce us to Teresa, a young, courageous woman committed to the fight for women's and children's rights. Her life was marked by poverty, social activism and the brutal repression of the Spanish Civil War. At the age of 23, she was murdered by Franco's forces, becoming one of the thousands of victims of repression in León. Her body is still missing, one of hundreds of mass graves that have yet to be exhumed. Her life and legacy remain a symbol of the struggle for social justice and human rights.
With the REFORE NETWORK project, we want to ensure that Teresa's story is not forgotten. The REFORE NETWORK project has sought to research and rediscover the stories of women who played a leading role in European historical memory in each of the participating partner countries, in order to highlight their life stories and counteract the gender imbalance detected in the narrative of European Remembrance.
27 JAN 2026 · En este episodio grabado por le grupo de Activistas por la Memoria Europea Olvidada de la Asociación Auryn, podremos descubrir algunas de las historias de personas de León que tras la Guerra Civil española vivieron la deportación a campos de concentración nazis como el de Gusen, Dachau o Mauthausen. Camino, Omar y Raúl nos descubrirán las historias de Rufino Baños Lozano, Angel Huerga Fierro y de Prisciliano García Gaitero. Según diversas investigaciones históricas y la documentación del Ministerio de Cultura de España, al menos 34 personas nacidas en la provincia de León fueron deportadas a campos de concentración nazis, principalmente al complejo de Mauthausen-Gusen. Con el proyecto REFORE NETWORK pretendemos que sus historias no caigan en el olvido y generen empatia y compromiso social, para que historias como las de Rufino, Angel y Prisciliano no se vuelvan a repetir.
In this episode recorded by the group Activists for Forgotten European Remembrance of the Auryn Association, we will discover some of the stories of people from León who, after the Spanish Civil War, were deported to Nazi concentration camps such as Gusen, Dachau, and Mauthausen. Camino, Omar, and Raúl will reveal the stories of Rufino Baños Lozano, Angel Huerga Fierro, and Prisciliano García Gaitero. According to various historical investigations and documentation from the Spanish Ministry of Culture, at least 34 people born in the province of León were deported to Nazi concentration camps, mainly to the Mauthausen-Gusen complex. Con el proyecto REFORE NETWORK, queremos sensibilizar sobre la memoria europea común como herramienta clave de la democracia, creando espacios de reflexión y aprendizaje que conecten pasado y presente, especialmente entre la juventud.

Conoceremos la historia de Teresa Monge, Miguel Castaño, Buenaventura Durruti o la historia del Colegio Ponce de León o del Campo de Concentración de San Marcos. entre otros espacios de memoria. The project - REFORE NETWORK: Youth network for Recovering the Forgotten Remembrance - has launched a transnational network promoting the European Forgotten Remembrance, giving value to testimonies, people, places and events that should not be forgotten and that have a great value for the European democratic remembrance. When we speak about European Forgotten Remembrance, we use the word "forgotten" to emphasize that there are fewer and fewer spaces for youth, mainly in the areas of formal and non-formal education, dedicated to talk about the origin of the European Union and European values ; what the totalitarianisms, Fascism, Nazism and Francoism were and are; what it means to be anti-fascist; what the Holocaust is (causes, consequences and current implications); the greater danger of hate speech and of the importance of social activism in favor of Human Rights and of preserving our European historical remembrance. The project is co-financed by the European Union through the CERV Programme (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values). The REFORE NETWORK Project is being developed by the following European organisations:
