To Dreamgaze Overtone (v soon to be Moonshade Transmissions) for one of coolest, most totally radical interviews I've ever been blessed enough to do.
Coming at ya THIS Friday 5-7; The Strawberry Alarm Clock joins me on the show! One of the most iconic bands of the era, & one of my personal biggest inspirations, period. To say that it was an honor to speak to all these lovely gentleman is just beyond an understatement.
As I drifted further into psychedelic bliss from my findings at the sadly now defunct Second Spin Records in Costa Mesa, many moons ago; I vividly remember the day ! bought the Incense & Peppermints album. It was the same day I bought The Electric Prunes self titled record, & The Psychedelic Sounds of The 13th Floor Elevators.
After this little CD haul nothing would or could, for that matter, ever be the same again. And I've been chasing the high ever since. They shaped a huge part of my infatuation with the underground scene & how so many "one hit wonders" are absolutely nothing of the sort. Strawberry Alarm Clocks' catalog is a timeless dance through the ages & they have influenced generations of musicians attempting to capture their exceptionally, pure sunshine psyche pop tone.
Their new album out August 7th "Where's One", thoroughly compliments that original sound flawlessly while still taking a slight step into the modern world, & yet continuing to maintain their gloriously original "period correct-ness" & jangle acid psychedelic sensibilities.
IT RULES!!
We'll be chatting about the past, present & future for all you psychonauts out there in radioland. Touring with Buffalo Springfield & The Beach Boys, insight into what was really happening behind the scenes in the recording studio, how the heck they came up with some of the trippiest harmonies I've ever heard, & oh my so so much more that we'll be divin deep into y'all.
So get ready folks because we're talking to the makers of some of the most influential & grooviest sounds to have ever hit the underground this Friday Night on KXFM Radio Laguna Beach.
