The widow, Pauline Henderson, isn't cooperating; she hung up on Tim when he called for information.
Johnny travels to the remote mining town of Culver, a dingy settlement tucked in Montana's northern corner. Upon arriving at the very hotel where Henderson died, he's immediately greeted by Sheriff Eve Holton, who's been expecting him. The sheriff invites Johnny to his hotel room for a private drink, making a careful distinction between this friendly welcome and their future official interactions.
