From out-of-pocket medical bills to unpaid maternity leave, Black women face unique and overwhelming financial burdens before, during, and after pregnancy. And too often, the cost of care becomes a silent barrier to safe and supported births. In this episode, we break down the true financial challenges that Black mothers experience—from navigating insurance gaps and accessing public assistance to building a financial wellness plan for pregnancy and postpartum. We also share tips, resources, and real talk on how financial stress and systemic inequities collide in the lives of Black women—and what we can do to prepare, advocate, and thrive.
