GOP GAINS HOUSE SEATS THANKS TO CENSUS

The U.S. Census Bureau released the results of the 2020 census and how it will affect the number of House seats each state gets. All in all, the Republicans will gain 2 seats and the Democrats will lose 1 seat.

The process is called reapportionment: Every 10 years, following the census, seats in the House of Representatives are shuffled based on population data across the country.

The 2020 census showed a shift in population from the Northeast and Midwest to the South and the West. Here's how it shakes out:

States losing seats:
🔻 California -1
🔻 New York -1
🔻 Illinois -1
🔻 Pennsylvania -1
🔻 Ohio -1
🔻 Michigan -1
🔻 West Virginia -1

States gaining seats:
✅ Texas +2
✅ Florida +1
✅ North Carolina +1
✅ Colorado +1
✅ Oregon +1
✅ Montana +1

New Yorkers are furious because they lost a House seat by just 89 citizens.
