Facing Hunger, Hard Cider, This One Belongs to the Reds, Keeping Cows Warm  

This week at The Leadership Table, General Hoyer sits down for a compelling talk with Cyndi Kirkhart, Chief Executive Officer of Facing Hunger Food Bank. During their chat, Cyndi and the General recall many emergency response efforts that they worked on together to look out for West Virginians and residents of the tri-state area during challenging times, and Cyndi shares leadership insights on the incredible power of partnerships.  

In the Rooted in the Mountain State segment from the Department of Agriculture we will learn about a brewery in Greenbrier County West Virginia.  

Baseball has been part of Appalachia since the game started. A staple has always been the Cincinnati Reds. During the coal booms miners would ride the train to Cincinnati from the coal fields catch a couple games and ride the train back home. The reds have a caravan which has player and management who travel from town to town prior to the start of spring training. The reds were in Point Pleasant this past week and Michael Susman caught up with legendary broadcaster Marty Brennaman.    

It has been cold in our region this past few weeks and Doctor Jim Maxwell the State Veterinarian for West Virginia shares information on how cows and other livestock with stand the cold.
