Everyone says, “Follow your heart”…But Jesus? Not so much.
“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
— Luke 9:23 (NIV)
In today’s world, following your heart sounds noble — even spiritual. But Jesus flips that idea. Instead of self-expression, he calls for self-denial. Instead of passion, he calls for a cross. In short: your heart might lead you to brunch. Jesus leads you to crucifixion. The irony? In denying yourself, you find your true self. Just not the one your heart had in mind.
