Curcumin is an ingredient in the spice tumeric and in curry powder. It has multiple plausible mechanisms by which it might slow ALS progression. There are 3 people with validated ALS diagnoses who recovered significant lost motor function (ALS reversals) on forms of it. Here we discuss the specific curcumin formulation and dosage that we think is promising enough to warrant further study in ALS.

This is certainly an interesting and helpful piece on curcumin by Richard Bedlack. That said, it would be very helpful if it was updated. I understand that the results of Dr Bedlack's relatively recent trial of curcumin were unpromising. But presumably that does not preclude the possibility that, for example, variation in dosage and/or length of treatment (with curcumin) might lead to more promising results. Anyhow, well done with this, but please update the interview. Thanks. Tim Dyson
