In this excellent episode, Nancy and Jose are joined in the studio by Cindy Dunlevy, the Coordinator of the Everyone Can Read at the San Diego County Office of Education. Beginning as a kindergarten teacher, Cindy has been working with young children for years. She has brought her passion for reading to thousands of children through her program Everyone Can Read.

How does this program help kids? Schools with this program are able to give extra help to kids in first, second, and third grade through one-on-one reading time with volunteer tutors. Whether it is a child just under grade level in their reading ability or a child who needs to build some confidence, having one-on-one time can help provide extra support for the teachers and students involved.

An excellent episode on education and reading with Cindy Dunlevy. Here are some other takeaways from the interview:
  • How Cindy got involved with the San Diego County Office of Education
  • The benefits of developing strong reading skills, especially for children
  • How to encourage students to become passionate about reading
  • How to get involved with the Everyone Can Read program
  • The answers to the Rapid Fire questions!
An excellent interview from a gap minder who is constantly working to improve the lives of even the youngest members of our community. Thank you, Cindy, for your contributions in San Diego, and for joining us on The Gap Minders.
