The year after Texas A&M and the CHI St. Joseph health system entered a business relationship, it expands to include Aggie athletics.

This is the second year that CHI is providing training for A&M medical students, sharing the branding of primary care clinics, and providing medical benefits for A&M employees.

CHI-St. Joseph president Theron Park says they meet weekly with representatives of both A&M athletics and A&M's health group to best manage resources.

Park says CHI-St. Joseph benefits by being part of the CommonSpirit Health corporation, which has sister institutions in other markets that also have relationships with university health science centers, university athletic departments, and professional sports teams.

News release from CHI-St. Joseph health system:

CHI St. Joseph Health has entered into a long-term agreement to become the Official Healthcare Provider of Texas A&M Athletics for all healthcare services across the continuum of care.

Part of the organization’s strengthened partnership with Texas A&M University, the agreement names CHI St. Joseph Health and partners CHI St. Luke’s Health exclusive healthcare sponsor throughout the CHI Texas Division service areas.

“Together with our partners at Texas A&M, we continue to enhance access and quality of care for patients across the communities we serve,” said CHI St. Joseph Health President & CEO Theron Park. “This agreement takes our commitment one step further, raising the profile of our collaborative partnership across our service area.”

Beginning in the 2019 season, CHI St. Joseph Health and CHI St. Luke’s Health branding will appear on the 12thman.com official partner page, on cobranded merchandise, marketing and advertising collateral and a broad range of Texas A&M Athletics’ community platforms.

“This commitment to excellence by CHI St. Joseph Health reflects the culture of Texas A&M Athletics,” said Texas A&M University Athletic Director Ross Bjork. “This expanded partnership helps provide resources to continually improve all aspects of the athletics department, reflective of the expectation of a world-class University like Texas A&M.”
