Another week and another massive storm hits the United States. This time, Hurricane Irma pummeled Florida and has left millions without power. For those of you who do not know, Graham is from Florida and was on the worst side of the storm on the east coast. He did evacuate safely but please, for all of you who can, donate to the Red Cross especially for those in Miami and the South Florida area.

Fortunately, while all of that has been happening, we have turned the corner on the regular season. Less than 1 month is left in the 2017 regular season, and while only 1 division has been mathematically captured, it is safe to say that all but 1, the NL Central, is all but sealed up. The Cleveland Indians are running away with the AL Central with an active 18 game winning streak, the Arizona Diamondbacks have won 14 of their last 16 games, and the Los Angeles Dodgers have continued their slide losing 10 straight. Are the Dodgers going to get out of this funk before October or can the potential Wild Card 1 team make it to the NLDS and upset the best team in the National League?

Speaking of the Arizona Diamondbacks, history was made this week when J.D. Martinez, the recently acquired outfielder from the Detroit Tigers, became the 18th player in MLB history, and 2nd this season joining Scotter Gennett of the Cincinnati Reds, to club 4 homeruns in a single game. We said it when the move was announced, but it is really starting to look like this trade may go down as the most important acquisition of the trade deadline. With Martinez set to become a free agent this offseason, and entering his age 30 season, would you sign him to an extension if you were the D-backs GM?

Finally, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced matching extensions for GM Neil Huntington and Manager Clint Hurdle. Good news for an organization that, while it has struggled this season, has continued to make the NL Central one of the best divisions in baseball. Moves like this ripple through baseball and we think it bodes very well for another long-tenured manager; however, it is not good news for everyone. Who needs to be worried about this move?

All of this and more this week on Out of Left Field with Chris and Graham.
