I stuff a lot of things into my pockets. 90% of it will fall onto the floor. Openly I admit I've lost a lot of tens and twenties. Imagine the shock that went through me on Easter Sunday when I looked down and took note of a 50 dollar bill beneath my right foot. I knew I had the money because the tree service man had just given it to me the night before. I was grateful to God for putting my eyes in the right place at the right time. When I got back to the car I shared the story with my wife. Only to realize when I pulled from my pockets all that it was holding I had two 50 dollar bills. I was horrified. My heart extremely heavy. I didn't know what to do. Was this a test or a gift? I talked with several preachers about the situation. We all agreed that I would drop the money into the plate the next Sunday. What I took from the lesson taught was that the 50 dollar bill was both a test and a gift. The test was if I'd give it back. The gift is how much it made me think about the other things I take. The messages every week are priceless. I take incredible notes. But what am I doing with it? Maybe we're supposed to give them away as well. To the passerby that has no name but you felt their heart as it tried to race away. The test and the gift.
