  • Episode 32- Claudia- The. NanoTechGirl

16 MAR 2018 · A chill Sunday morning conversation with Claudia, aka The Nano Tech Girl. Claudia shares her experience as college student majoring in nanotechnology. We discuss the reason that she decided to return to Mexico to pursue her bachelors degree. Claudia is a go-getter; she was valedictorian of her high school in San Diego,Ca even though she was an exchange student and English is her second language. Claudia continuously pushes herself to achieve her goals no matter how daunting they may seem at first glance. We talk about the advice she gave her sister; when she asked Claudia how she overcame her fears as an exchange student in the US. One key take away from the conversation was Claudia's philosophy of embracing her humility. We also talk about nanotechnology in the film Black Panther. And when I share my feelings of anxiety from using social media, we briefly discuss the philosophy of human connectedness and how social media and the internet has changed what we consider normal or natural. I hope you enjoy the show, thank you for listening. Follow Claudia on Instagram: the.nanotechgirl Music: Helado Negro - "Young, Latin & Proud" Philosopher: Franco Bifo Berardi

  • Episode 31- Chris Everett- Wilmington on Fire

21 FEB 2018 · First show of season 2! It is Black History Month and I have the honor to share a conversation with award winning filmmaker Chris Everett. We talk about his award winning documentary "Wilmington on Fire". "The Wilmington Massacre was a bloody attack on the African-American community by a heavily armed white mob with the support of the North Carolina Democratic Party on November 10, 1898 in the port city of Wilmington, North Carolina. It is considered one of the only successful examples of a coup d'état in the United States that left countless numbers of African-American citizens dead and exiled from the city. This event was the spring board for the white supremacy movement and Jim Crow segregation throughout the state of North Carolina and the American South. “Wilmington on Fire” gives a compelling historical and present day look at this event showing how the violent overthrow of an existing government not only cemented white supremacy in the city of Wilmington and the state of North Carolina but also throughout the United States of America."
