As creatives, we can tend to hold onto our ideas and art as if they ARE us. And then we hold on too tightly or stay too long with something that has lived its time. But when we learn to ride the winds, we allow even more magic to be birthed through us. We know when to stay and when to set it all free. I just hopped off my group call with my membership Goddesses. We talked about avoidance and not following through on the things you were once so excited to pursue. I find myself not finishing books and courses and- gulp- relationships that once caught my breath and now... well... I kind of forget about them. So I've given myself an ultimatum: Finish what you start... or don't. And the don't means that I check in and see WHY I'm not finishing. ...Is it out of alignment? ...Am I out of alignment? ...Am I just too distracted and unfocused? ...Am I avoiding who I'd need to BE if I got the outcome I think I'd get by finishing? And if it's not in my highest good at the moment, or if I simply refuse to follow through, then I've got to give it up and let go. This means it's no longer on my "to do" list, no longer looming over me as yet another thing I haven't finished.
