Using SAM CAST for broadcasting Live with Spreaker

SAM CAST is a piece of software which allows you to capture your microphone and all audio going through your soundcard and broadcast it to a remote server. In this tutorial we will be showing you how to configure it for working with Spreaker.

Please, note that you can use an external tools only if you are a Pro user.

Encoder configuration

  1. Start SAM CAST. The main Window will open.
  2. The first thing we have to do is configure an encoder. Click on the "Encoders" button to open the encoders window.
  3. In the Encoders window, click the "+" button to add an encoder.
  4. Choose "MP3 (LAME_ENC)" and click OK.
  5. Configure the encoder with the following parameters:
    Bitrate: 128 kbps
    Mode: Stereo
    Sampling rate: 44100 Hz
    Auto start encoder after: enable it and set 1 second
    Auto reconnect encoder after: enable it and set 10 seconds
  6. Switch to the "Server Details" panel. Here you have to insert the following settings:
    Server Type: Icecast2
    Server IP: icecast.spreaker.com
    Server Port: 443
    Password: your Spreaker password
    Mount: /user/<user_id> (the user_id is a numeric unique identifier of your account)
    Station name: The title of your episode
    Station description: The description of your episode (optional)

Ready to Broadcast!

You're now ready to Broadcast! A new episode will be created in the last show you have used.
